Stat of the game.
Herbert was 25/27 for 331 yards with a TD in regulation.
Herbert was 1/6 for 15 yards in overtime.

Why it was such a brobdingnagian comeback wasn't necessarily the score differential, it was the fact that we were getting pummeled on both sides of the ball. The improbability of our winning the game was immense when they had that TD called back and had the ball at the 1. That TD would have made it 31 to 7. Instead, Alfieri scooped and scored and it was 24 to 14. What a game. This team might be destined for something big.

There was a lot of hubris from the ducks! They were trying to send a message running that jumbo formation on the goalline when leading 24-7.

Dumbest offensive play calling ever by the Ducks at the end of regulation... what were they thinking??? A couple snaps in Victory formation and the game is over. Thank you!

Hard to explain. But the game went from almost certainly 31-7 and a blowout to 24-14 in the span of three plays. Basically, an Oregon receiver's touchdown was called back when on replay his foot touched the pylon. No big deal, Oregon gets first and goal on the one. Except Oregon fumbles the exchange (but Herbert recovers) and it's now 2nd and goal from the 8 or so. Oregon gets a second down run to the four so they are third and goal. The ensuing snap goes over Herbert's head, Alfieri picks it up and runs it back for a touchdown.
On the ensuing drive, our defense stops the Ducks for the first time all game three and out. On our ensuing drive, Costello hits Parkinson and then Irwin to take us down to the Oregon 22. Then on first and ten, we line up in the heavy formation, I sigh because I figure the run will be cut down for a short gain, Love gets the ball, cuts in front of Wilson who is pulling instead of waiting for the block, and he's gone, the game is 24-21 and Stanford is back in business.

Not quite; we had one time out. Oregon had first and ten with 1:35 left; with our ability to stop the clock once, Oregon had two chances to knock 40 seconds off the clock, which would have left 15 seconds in the game. Of course, they could have then punted from the 43 and pinned us inside our 20 with 15 seconds left.
