Did WH staff know she had close contact? Seems risky to let her close to the president even with a negative test. Or I wonder now if Trump will start taking hydroxychloroquine, just in case.
Incubation period is too short; it is generally 3 - 14 days, so even if the governor has contacted COVID-19 from Trump Jr's girlfriend, Noem is very unlikely to have been infectious.

Seems like an unnecessary risk in case she's one of the outliers

I think serial interval (time between the onset of an infector's symptoms and the onset of an infectee's symptoms) might be more relevant.
(I interpret this as being an upper bound on the mean value for how long from exposure to infectious.)
It is shorter than the incubation period, but still 1.5 days seems too short from exposure to infectious.
One unpublished study: 5.29 days (4.72, 5.86).
An earlier letter from the same authors: 3.96 days (3.53, 4.39)
Another unpublished study: 4.56 days (2.69, 6.42) Taiwan; 4.22 days (3.43, 5.01) Tianjin
Another study: 4.6 days (3.5, 5.9)

The White House response continues to be moronic, now trying to strong-arm the FDA into another emergency approval for hydroxychloroquine. Why is Peter Navarro, a trade advisor with no medical training, involved in this at all? Shouldn't he be trying to figure out how we can get more PPE as director of DPA policy?

Another day, another study further throwing cold water on the possibility that hydroxychloroquine ± azithromycin will work for COVID-19. This time in animal models:

Under normal circumstances, this study would have been done first, and then the drug would have been tested in humans.

Two-for-one today.

HCQ ± Azithromycin fails to make a difference in patients with mild disease.
Here's the main result
The "ordinal scale" represents categories of severity ranging from 1 (no need for oxygen and no limitations on activity) to 7 (death). The distribution of the categories is basically the same regardless of treatment.

I guess if he recovers, it'll give him that much more proof of its effectiveness and of his stance that the coronavirus is just another flu.
Talk about betting on oneself.
