Is it doubly delicious that Alamar is a former Cal special teams coach? I vaguely remember that OutsiderFan (I think it was; sorry if I have you confused with someone else) warned us that Alamar sucked based on his tenure at Cal (which, admittedly didn't inspire a ton of confidence).

Ouch. Yes, a win is a win. But wow that was like a root canal. We can slap our foreheads all we want but Kal fans must be out on the ledge.
Can we please declare the season a success and cancel the rest of it?

Between the pandemic and the memorable ending, this is was a Big Game that will be remembered for decades, and I'm glad the scoreboard was in our favor at the end. Congratulations to the boys and the coaching staff.
Some portion of their play is likely linked to the SF Bay Area COVID restrictions that have hindered sports practices for months.
I think every Pac-12 coach understands that complaining about practice challenges does not help the team and makes them look out of touch as thousands of Americans die of COVID each week. Still, I am confident that Cal and Stanford would play much better football if they had been allowed to practice like those teams in many other states.
Got to just put a big asterisk on this whole season and assume it will be better in 2021.
And remember to rejoice that The Axe is safely back at home and away from those bumble bee looking Cal Committee shirts.

Was anyone else's picture grainy when getting the field/grass shots?
I tuned in midway through the 3rd quarter and thought maybe the game had been postponed and they were showing some old footage instead because the picture seemed like it was from the 80s (except for the widescreen), and we weren't losing.
Glad we played opportunistically today, taking advantage of pretty much every Cal mistake.

My guess is that the cameras’ detail gain was set too high.

Special teams were special and sealed the deal for the Cardinal. The hold on Mills int was of immense proportions, too.
Big win in Big Game.
Does anyone have a take on wether Davis knew he was getting the hold call so maybe he decided to air it out Aaron Rodgers style? It’s my hope

It wasn't much of a hold, but I'll take it.

Yes.
But man, that was some awful football.
It was a thing of beauty, like Botticelli's Birth of Venus. Watching the players re-take the Axe brought a little joy, which has been a rare occurrence lately.
More like the Afterbirth of Venus. Still a win is a win and it was indeed great watching the players run down the tunnel and haul the Axe back on to the field to celebrate.

The Big Game is usually a game decided by mistakes more than great plays.
OMG were there mistakes. The broadcast pointed out Cal's mistakes, but Stanford sure had a bevy of them.
It was so easy to call Stanford's plays in the last half of the 4th quarter.
Cal fans thought they were conference title contenders going into this season. Covid has really hurt them. Looked rusty against UCLA. Brutal losses against Oregon State and Stanford by combined 5 points. Maybe they were contenders without Covid, but seems unlikely.

By far, the best part of the contest. As he-inus as the game was at times, it's fun to watch the players' joy.
Congrats to them! Enjoy bringing The Axe back home.

Cal's problem is that it's not Sep/Oct when they play well. They stink in Nov.

No way. He just threw it to wrong side. Maybe didnt see the safety. He hasn’t thrown an int. Bad throw. Happens. And with all the crap he’s been thru, he’s been pretty darn good. Not sure if he comes back next year. Hope so. He’s talented.

That Cal OL looked awfully good for having three starters out. They weren't perfect, but they could have been a game-winning OL if not for their special teams.

I dunno, they gave up four sacks to a team who had zero in two games to date. Then again, Cal got 241 yards rushing on 35 carries (more if you take out the sacks). So, maybe?

Yeah. Really hard to evaluate how good either team was...
