Dawgs
Walk-On Union Watch. Four non-scholarship players got PT against UW. No statistics were recorded in the game unless noted.
- Safety Patrick Fields, 5th year, was one of three starting safeties, and had another seven tackles
- ILB Jason Kaul, sr.
- RB Caleb Robinson, jr., had one carry for four yards; it was interesting that he was the first RB in the game after Filkins.
- C Logan Berzins, jr.
In addition...
- WR Brycen Tremayne, a 5th year former walk-on, started and caught a 4-yard pass. His production is decreasing each week.
- P Ryan Sanborn, a senior former walk-on, had a very good game. He punted four times for a 45.5 yard average. One punt went for 50 yards, and one punt was downed inside the opponent's 20 yard line.
- ILB Spencer Jorgensen, a senior former walk-on, played, but did not record a tackle.
Frosh Force. Four true freshmen played against Upper Left University. None recorded any statistics unless noted.
- TE Sam Roush saw playing time on offense.
- WR Mudia Reuben did as well.
- DL Jaxson Moi played a lot and had another two tackles.
- Edge David Bailey started, but had just one tackle.
Bench Bunch. The following non-injured non-frosh scholarship players did not appear against the Huskies.
- Quarterback
- Running Back
- Fullback
- Jay Symonds, 5th yr. I am guessing this was perhaps an injury, since he was listed as the starter last Tuesday? Shield Taylor, who was a DNP-CD against USC, was the only FB to play in the game.
- Tight End
- Lukas Ungar, jr. While Roush is good, it is disappointing not to see more Ungar in three-TE sets.
- Wide Receiver
- Jayson Raines, so. Maybe they are trying to restore his burnt redshirt, but it seems interesting that he played a lot as a true frosh, and not at all this year.
- Offensive Tackle
- Offensive Guard
- Center
- Drake Metcalf, jr. I'm wondering if he was injured? This is the second week in a row that he did not play, and it was strange to see Logan Berzins (who, it seems, has gained traction) get snaps over Metcalf.
- Defensive Line
- Zach Buckey, so. Sophomore Austin Uke did play, making his Stanford football debut. Congratulations, Austin!
- Edge
- Lance Keneley, jr. Also disappointing not to see more Keneley. If a player is not making an impact by junior year, there's not a lot of projection left.
- Inside Linebacker
- Cornerback
- Safety
- Omari Porter, jr.
- Jaden Slocum, so. Also interesting that Jaden is not playing; last year, as a true freshman, it seemed that he and Jimmy Wyrick basically played the same amount. Not so much this year.
- Caleb Ellis, so. Also burnt his shirt last year, but does not play this year.
- Mitch Leigber, so.
- Special Teams
M*A*S*H Unit. The following players did not appear against Washington due to injury. I am basing this on both official reports and reporting done by Cardboarders. Please do correct me if I am wrong.
- Quarterback
- Running Back
- Fullback
- Tight End
- Wide Receiver
- Offensive Tackle
- Myles Hinton, jr.
- James Pogorelc, jr.
- Jack Leyrer, so.
- Kenji Swanson, fr.
- Offensive Guard
- Center
- Defensive Line
- Edge
- Thunder Justice Keck, 6th year, a (now) walk-on
- Wilfredo Aybar, so.
- Aristotle Taylor, so., a walk-on
- Inside Linebacker
- Cornerback
- Safety

Does anyone know how to access the depth chart for the Oregon game?
And does anyone know WHY it is so hard to access or find the depth chart? On the GoStanford site, you can easily find the Notebook, but not so easily find the depth chart. It's annoying.
Also, I'd love it if anyone could post injury news. For instance, was Jay Symonds or Drake Metcalf injured for the UW game? Was that posted anywhere? Or perhaps I missed it in a coach press conference.

You are right that the depth chart is always really hard to find. This week's depth chart is here:
https://gostanford.com/documents/2022/9/27/2022_Stanford_Football_Depth_Chart_-_04_Oregon.pdf
I was only able to find it by looking at the URL of last week's depth chart and then replacing the "20" (in Sept. 20) with "27", replacing "03" with "04" (for the game number, presumably), and replacing "Washington" with "Oregon".
Normally, the depth chart can be found on Monday nights or Tuesdays on the Media page for Stanford Football:
https://gostanford.com/news/2022/8/17/football-2022-media-center.aspx
However, the link for the Oregon game is broken and returning a 404, page not found. I guess even the website for Stanford Football is a hot mess right now.
If you were hoping for clarity on the health status of our two starting tackles, you won't get it from the depth chart. They are both listed as "OR". I believe there will be some sort of announcement this evening, as occurred last Friday with respect to EJ Smith.

Ducks
Walk-On Union Watch. Five non-scholarship players got PT against Oregon. No statistics were recorded in the game unless noted.
- Safety Patrick Fields, 5th year, was one of three starting safeties, and had five tackles and a PBU.
- ILB Jason Kaul, sr., had two tackles.
- RB Caleb Robinson, jr., had three carries for 15 yards. He was again the first RB in the game after Filkins.
- C Logan Berzins, jr.
- K Emmet Kenney, so. He is listed on the game report, but I do not recall him being in the game. He is #13, so it could be that he got confused with Ethan Bonner. Anyone know?
In addition...
- WR Brycen Tremayne, a 5th year former walk-on, started and caught two passes for 20 yards.
- P Ryan Sanborn, a senior former walk-on punted seven (!) times for a 40.3 yard average. His longest punt was 48 yards, and none went for touchbacks.
- ILB Spencer Jorgensen, a senior former walk-on, had three tackles.
Frosh Force. Seven true freshmen played against the Quacks, including two debuts. None recorded any statistics unless noted.
- OT Fisher Anderson made his collegiate debut. Congrats!
- Edge David Bailey started and had 6 tackles, including one for a one-yard loss.
- QB Ashton Daniels is apparently our wildcat QB, with two runs for 31 yards.
- TE C.J. Hawkins made his collegiate debut. Congrats!
- DL Jaxson Moi played a lot again, though he only had one tackle, though that includes an assisted sack.
- WR Mudia Reuben had some significant PT, and had his first second collegiate TD, an 18-yard catch from Ari Patu.
- TE Sam Roush saw playing time on offense, and had his first collegiate catch!
Bench Bunch. The following non-injured non-frosh scholarship players did not appear against the Ducks.
- Quarterback

Good stuff, thanks for compiling this.
Are we sure Connor McLaughlin isn't injured? He was originally listed as the starter at RT last week vs. Oregon, if Hinton couldn't go. Shaw also referred to Leyrer as our "4th string right tackle," which suggests that the normal order would be: Hinton, Miller (in not backfilling at LT or another position), McLaughlin, Leyrer.

No specific info. Several of the non-injured non-freshman scholarship players you listed are chronically injured. For instance, Lukas Ungar should never be described as non-injured unless you see him playing. He's been almost continually injured as long as he's played high school varsity or college football.
Also, Mudia Reuben's touchdown was his second. Recall a very similar Patu to Reuben garbage time touchdown against Colgate. Thanks to garbage time, he's second on the team in receiving touchdowns, more than Higgins, Tremayne, Humphreys, Yurosek, Filkins, and Smith.

Play everybody. There is no sense to have redshirts anymore.
The one big mistake by Harballs was to sit Luck but Oliver may have had a hand in it.

The evidence is of two types. One is anecdotal. It was reported by several sources that JH was mulling over burning Luck's shirt before the TCU game. After Luck saw what happened to Tavita in that game he supposedly decided he wanted no part of that. When JH subsequently asked him, Luck said he felt he was not ready. While this is anecdotal, Luck was (several years) later directly asked if that was indeed the case on two occasions. He would neither confirm nor deny. I am pretty sure that if there was no truth to it, he would have simply denied it. It may be the reasons were not exactly as stated, but he didn't say that either. Pretty good indication it was at least partially true.
The second evidence is that Andrew Luck has demonstrated by his conduct throughout his entire career that he is his own man. You don't walk away from the NFL and all the associated money and fame unless you are "that kind of person". You don't go to Stanford and study architecture if you are easily swayed by what others think. The idea that he would not play if both he and JH thought it was a good idea is so completely out of character that I don't think it can be seriously entertained. I have no idea if Oliver Luck had any input on the decision, but to whatever extent he did, I would be amazed if the final decision was not made by Andrew.

I can't find the source, and don't care enough to look, but I recall that Harbaugh said that Andrew didn't want the promotion because he didn't think that he had earned it yet. Harbaugh clearly makes his own player decisions so maybe he agreed that Luck wasn't quite ready.
Oliver Luck may or may not have had anything to do with it but I think it is highly unlikely that Harbaugh was basing his player decisions on their parent's wishes.
Cheers,
Pete F.

Until somebody asks Andrew we'll never know. But those kind of reporters don't exist anymore and are too cautious of their connections.

Andrew is retired; he doesn’t owe anyone an answer about stuff that happened 15 years ago.

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel -
Phogge - 10-06-2022
JFC BC. Are you his advocate? This is an exercise in coaching speculation, nothing more. Opinions vary. Plus great journalists ask tough questions. Where the f*** would we be without two dogged reporters, Carl and Bob?
We did a murder story in the hills above Marysville-Yuba City. Don Hewitt and Morley thought enough of it to lead a season of 60 Minutes with it. We did some hidden camera when nobody was doing anything like it and with a film camera (worked a full day on concealing, sound barney, etc.)! We suspected a sheriff's son of killing a young woman at a crank party. The sheriff and the DA buried some evidence and our research was spot on but circumstantial.
Two young reporters watched the show and picked up the ball. Six months of research and they found enough to force the DA to prosecute. The perp was guilty and is in Folsom today.
So whether Harballs was called off by the Lucks doesn't matter. What does is the speculation and discussion. I'm the last person to be told to back off. I did way too many investigative reports that helped put away a few people to accept that. I know this wasn't a murder or a conspiracy but it did fuel Tonga tailgate debates for years in CTG.
RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel -
BostonCard - 10-06-2022
TC, I got no issue with the speculation. It’s just the silly suggestion that reporters are soft because no one has asked Andrew the tough questions that’s would have cracked the 15 year mystery of the redshirted QB that got me.
Fwiw, I think the objection wasn’t so much about c whether he should play or not, but with Harbaugh’s dilly-dallying about it.
