Both of the ESPN+ games in this "Showdown" included Hawaii. And the audio appears to be the Hawaii play-by-play announcer from their radio broadcasts since he was identifying the audio as coming from the radio station. Bottom line, if this is the case tomorrow, we're going to be hearing a real homer version of what's going on. The play-by-play description for today's game was very strongly focused on what Hawaii was doing. The best thing I can say about it was that the commentary was fully in sync with the video.

I wonder if Kevin Danna will be doing audio for Stanford again.  If so I'll try putting that on while watching the video.
In game one it was Tim Schwarz, not Kevin Danna I think.  I sometimes get the two mixed up.  Was it Danna in game 2?

Swartz called both games. Danna is working G League basketball. Check their feeds on twitter.

Thanks. Swartz really sounds like Danna then!

Just discovered that my cable package does not include ESPN+.  I've never missed it before today, and am reluctant to sign up for one game.  After this, all our scheduled games will be in Maples or on Pac 12, I presume, so I guess I will deprive myself of the ability to watch our game against Hawaii.  I would love it if those of you who are subscribers give a full description.

Does anyone know if the ESPN+ games, after they are over, are accessible via the ESPN replay site for free?

Edit:  they are not.

I think ESPN  may have conspired to put this morning's MBB, this afternoon's WBB, and this evening's MSoccer all on ESPN+.  Sign up and they've got your info and interest and email.  Add those $$ to your monthly cable/whatever bill.   Sigh..

Yeah, I made the decision that I didn't want to give ESPN+ yet another way to take my money today.  I'm hoping the call and game go well today.

I signed up for a Disney+/ESPN+/Hulu package deal when I wanted to watch both "The Mandalorian" and some sports, and basically forgot to cancel. Oh well, it's only money.

I have the audio of the FGCU and Grambling State games. Got all the Grambling game, about 3/4 of FGCU.  It's posted in my Dropbox.  PM me for the url.  Please don't share.

Stanford vs. Hawaii begins

Livestats shows the usual starters.  The audio broadcast has begun, getting some commentary from Swartz.

Will look forward to reports from our visual folks.  Hawaii is better than its record and we need to play a decent game.

Pre game interview with Tara.  Tara comments on David Shaw.  "I love David Shaw, and I want to thank him for all the hard work, his loyalty to Stanford....more than anything it is a changing landscape in athletics, and there are decisions to be made."

About Grambling.  "Different games allow you to do different things.  This has been a terrific tournament for our young players and allow them to make mistakes that are not game-costing.  Against teams like South Carolina you need to play your experienced players....we are a very young team and it is fun to see so many of our young players doing so well."

"We want to run our offense better and be more aggressive on defense.  We want to use these games to teach our team and give them a vision of how we want to play."

RE: WBB: Rainbow Wahine Showdown - 81alum - 11-27-2022

25-7 after 1 quarter.  Prechtel with 3 treys.

RE: WBB: Rainbow Wahine Showdown - martyup - 11-27-2022

Nice first quarter for Stanford.  We lead 25-7.  If we wouldn't have missed so many bunnies, it would have been 40.

RE: WBB: Rainbow Wahine Showdown - qwerty49 - 11-27-2022

I’m a Lepolo fan but I’d love to see us try 5)Betts 4)Brink 3)Prechtel 2)Jump 1)Jones; at least for a few minutes.

RE: WBB: Rainbow Wahine Showdown - martyup - 11-27-2022

Brink is being aggressive on offense.  She really wants the ball down low.  Good for her.

RE: WBB: Rainbow Wahine Showdown - mbdude - 11-27-2022

6pts 5 tos this quarter.
Demetri in 1 minute then subbed out. Seems to happen often to her

RE: WBB: Rainbow Wahine Showdown - martyup - 11-27-2022

We are 12-12 at the charity stripe.

Prechtel is 4-6 from beyond the arc at the half.  Superb.

Jones and Brink each with 9 points in the first half.

Just showed Ashten highlights on halftime iowa st game

RE: WBB: Rainbow Wahine Showdown - martyup - 11-27-2022

Jones is only 2-8 shooting, but has made 5 free throws.

We missed 6 layups in the first half.  Most of them barely contested.

Any chance Ashten could shoot her way into the WNBA?

My guess: some team probably will take a chance on her.

Agree. That would be awesome.

So the rumors about Belibi and Jump coming back for a fifth year....does that mean Prechtel won't?  Would love to keep her around.  Her defense has been strong, and so perhaps she does have some WNBA potential if she keeps up her shooting like this.
