Men’s Track doing fine

Our best MVB player has been out for three weeks and the team losing now

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - JJJ - 02-18-2024

Game 3 was started early due to expected poor weather.
Nick Dugan did well for 5.1 innings, Kassius Thomas got out of Dugan’s jam in the 6th.
Cort MacDonald just hit his first career HR and we lead 4-1, B7.
Cobb has 2 triples and a double from the leadoff spot.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - JJJ - 02-18-2024

The ‘pen made it more exciting than I would’ve liked, but we hang on to win 4-1.
Well done, guys!

A valuable win in the series finale.

Fullerton could well be back from their down period -- and recall that we ended their season last year in the regionals -- so they would have had good reason to enter our season opening series with an extra edge of anger and payback on their mind.

Looking forward to seeing if this year will really be a step back for our team, or if we just needed until the third game to turn the key.

It's now how you start, it is how you finish. If the pitching can hold serve, that will allow this young lineup to catch up. Haskins will need time as he had some promise before last years illness. Who cares about rankings, it all about getting it all together for conference play and tournament.

And Malcolm Moore gets his first RBI of the season on a bases loaded walk. The irony is immense.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - chrisk - 02-19-2024

Today’s game vs UNLV is on PAC-12 Network.

Currently, 4-4 after 2.

Speshyock. a name to remember, even if you can’t spell it.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - chrisk - 02-19-2024

Moore hits 3-run homer in 9th, but Stanford falls 10-8.

If you watched this documentary (it was aired on ESPN during the pandemic), his dad was featured as a supporting character endorsing change, kind of foreshadowing this type of trailblazing move.

In case you hadn’t seen this article from a few days ago, not only Vandy and UCLA, but even Cal was in the running!? But of course, he made the right decision. Looking forward to having him hang out with the team come Spring Quarter, and get acclimated.

The team could use Sasaki's hitting.

Two items.

1. M. Moore may have gotten on track Monday.  Walk, hr, 4 rbi. (M. Moore, not T. Moore.)

2. My baseball video uploads to Youtube have been delayed.  Tech screwups on my part,  family drama, and a consulting project I'm trying to wrap up.  Watch this space for updates.

Anyone know anything about the status of Ty Uber and Tommy O'Rourke?

Neither have made an appearance yet, so I assume they aren't healthy. Would like to know what their prospects are for the year.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2024 - BobK - 02-20-2024

O’Rourke could miss the season.

Looks like it's going to be a long season. Not enough pitching, not enough hitting.

We knew it was going to be a rebuilding year.  But most of us didn't expect the hole to be quite this deep.  On a positive note, the freshmen will improve during the season.  So will Matt Scott and Nick Dugan.  Our two best pitchers are sophomores iirc.

I wonder if it is time to look what is available at the end of the season for a new pitching coach??

Stanford's pitching staff has an ERA of 9.15. Yikes!
