MLB Winter Meetings: SF Giants draw eyes, pursuing Ohtani, Yamamoto
Kapler imo is much better suited for front office. He’s smart. Analytical. I could see him being a Head of Baseball Ops someday.
Going to be interesting to see who Giants end up signing. I’m impatiently waiting.
The wait is nearly over. The Winter Meeting starts on Monday.

Slusser reporting Giants supposed leader in Yamamoto sweepstakes. Baggerly reporting Giants have adjusted their risk aversion calculation and are prepared to make the kind of offers that top targets can’t refuse.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale said today that the Dodgers and Mets should be considered co-leaders.
Be nice if they could get Jung Hoo Lee and Bellinger as well.

And the Dodgers want Joc Pederson back (they're welcome to him). Maybe Dave Roberts' public noise about Ohtani has eliminated the Dodgers from Ohtani's consideration, given Ohtani's stated preference that all negotiations and visits be conducted in secret. And supposedly Ohtani has said he doesn't see himself playing in NYC, so the Mets are theoretically out. I read that the Cubs, Red Sox and Rangers are now seeking other free agents.

The Giants kept both Corey and McCray after the Rule 5 drafts. They drafted Nick Garcia a pitcher former 3rd Pirate draft choice. Career minors ERA 5:04
Garcia born in Redwood City.

SD was never going to trade Soto to an intradivisional rival. I’m glad to see him going to the AL.
OTOH, the Padres picked up a nice group of young pitchers from the Yankees. Overall, a good trade for both clubs.

LOT'S of "Ohtani to the Blue Jays" reports flooding the various baseball news agencies.
If so, an interesting choice. I expected him to either land on the West Coast or a major East Coast player. But Toronto?

Toronto appears to be the winner of the sweepstakes.
Ohtani is reportedly on his way to sign with the Blue Jays (he has been confirmed to be aboard a private jet heading to Toronto).
Of course, he would have to pass a physical first. :)
As it turns out, Ohtani was not on his way to Toronto. An apology for bad info was issued last night by the reporter who posted that information. Mental note: Ignore everything written about Ohtani until his signature is on a contract.

Signing with the Jays would be the best alternative to signing with SF. Of course, it would cause the Dodgers to go to red alert and turn the market upside down. I don’t think they are at the same level as the Phils and Braves at this point. Fun stuff…….

Multiple Dodger sources are claiming that the final three were Blue Jays, Dodgers and Angels. SF Giants supposedly didn't make the final three.
