That depends on your definition of "fun." Just like that, one hole played and we're down one. I can barely dare to check the scoreboard already! :)

The Good news? We're up 3-2
The Bad news? It's tight

Oops, now tied 2.5-2.5
Ugh

Aaaand now we're down 2-3 as Xu has lost three straight holes to go from 2 up to 1 down....

All 3 UVA leads are 1 up; Stanford has a 1 up (Ortengren through 8) and a 2 up (Revuelta through 6)

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - SkiBum80 - 05-20-2025

The Good news? None. We are down 3-2 now
And Sampedro falls another hole behind

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - ColoradoTree - 05-20-2025

Lots of golf yet to be played, of course, but we need to change some momentum here:

* Sampedro has trailed the entire round, and she just lost 10 to go down 2;
* Ortengren was 2 up through 3 holes but lost 8 to go to 1 up;
* Xu was 2 up through 2, lost 3, won 4 to get back to 2 up, but then she lost 5, 6, and 7; she just stopped the bleeding by halving 8, though;
* Ganne won 1 but hasn't won a hole since, and she's 1 down through 7;
* Revuelta was 3 up through 5 but then dropped 6.

Yes, looks a bad momentum shift
I count about 50 holes yet to play.
So lots time, but waiting on time to help is a fool's wish.

Golf Channel coverage begins at 10 am pacific.

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - ColoradoTree - 05-20-2025

Not all that important in match play, of course, but just to get a sense of how they're playing relative to par:

* Sampedro is +1 through 10
* Ortengren is E through 8
* Xu is +1 through 8
* Ganne is -1 through 7
* Revuelta is -2 through 7

And despite that par on 7, Revuelta's lead is now down to 1 up. Sampedro's match is the only one that has more than a 1-hole lead.

From the stroke play, Stanford averaged about -7 per round, and Virginia +4 per round.
Today in match play we are far far off those results (and VA playing much better) and at risk of crapping out.

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - ColoradoTree - 05-20-2025

Ouch. Xu drops 9 to go 2 down.

* Sampedro is 3 down through 12;
* Ortengren is 1 up through 11;
* Xu is 2 down through 9;
* Ganne is 1 down through 9; and
* Revuelta is 1 up through 8.

[Luke] I've got a very bad feeling about this

Momentum still in wrong direction as Ortengren lost a +1 lead and now tied

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - ColoradoTree - 05-20-2025

First the bad news: Ortengren drops 12 and Xu drops 10.
The good news: Ganne wins 10 to draw level in her match! That's the first hole we've won in what feels like ages.

So that's:

* Sampedro 3 down through 13;
* Ortengren tied through 12;
* Xu is 3 down through 10;
* Ganne is tied through 10; and
* Revuelta is 1 up through 9.

There's a path to three wins there, but obviously very tight, and you need all three matches you're in.

Right! the path to win 3 is extremely narrow, no margin at all for error
What happens if tied 2.5 each?  Tied players continue sudden death til a winner?

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - ColoradoTree - 05-20-2025

Sampedro won 14! Not dead yet!

And Ganne wins 11 to go 1 up!

So that's now 2.5-2.5:

* Sampedro 2 down through 14;
* Ortengren tied through 12;
* Xu 3 down through 11;
* Ganne 1 up through 11; and
* Revuelta 1 up through 10.

And Ortengren wins 13 to give us a (very, very narrow) lead!

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - oldalum - 05-20-2025

Ortengren wins 13 with a par, so we're leading in 3 matches but only by one hole in all 3. That is our clearest path to victory. Va is up 2 and 3 in the matches they are leading.
------------------------
Sampedro wins 15 with a birdie and is only 1 down. Another path to victory opens up!

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - SkiBum80 - 05-20-2025

Momentum back, Sampedro and Revuelta both win a hole.

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - ColoradoTree - 05-20-2025

And the momentum swing continues, as Sampedro wins 15 and Revuelta wins 11!

Stanford up 3-2:

* Sampedro 1 down through 15;
* Ortengren 1 up through 13;
* Xu 3 down through 12;
* Ganne 1 up through 11; and
* Revuelta 2 up through 11.

Of course, then Ganne drops 12 to get us level again.

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - SkiBum80 - 05-20-2025

Sampedro wins 3 holes in a row to draw even.
Who had that on their scorecard?

Make it 4 holes in a row for Sampedro!

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - ColoradoTree - 05-20-2025

Revuelta is on an absolute tear, winning 11, 12, and 13:

* Sampedro is somehow now 1 up through 17;
* Ortengren is 1 up through 16;
* Xu is 3 down through 15;
* Ganne is tied through 14; and
* Revuelta is 4 up through 13.

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - Lorcan - 05-20-2025

Virginia lips out on a birdie, and Sampedro wins the match! What a comeback by Sampedro!
