Since buying two tickets for the scrimmage I've gotten three email advertisements for season tickets.  They are still committed to a full capacity venue which I hope holds up through the season.

Here is an interesting tidbit about single match tickets:

"Can’t make the game?

Using a mobile device or desktop, you can easily transfer tickets to friends via email or text message, resell tickets on StubHub, exchange tickets from one game to another, or gift your tickets back to Stanford Athletics for use by another fan or nonprofit organization."

Not a new possibility for those who can’t use their tix

Season tix arriving today

Scroll down to the first video posted on twitter about twelve hours ago. I don't know how to link separately to the video.

I don't recognize some of the incoming freshmen.  I didn't see Beaven in the video although she has had a different hair color in every prep video I've seen of her so maybe I'm getting faked out by the hair color.

That looked like a nice connection between Miner and L. Smith.  Stanford could come out of the gates with three freshmen starting; Miner, Francis, and L. Smith (technically a redshirt freshman).

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 08-12-2021

With 17 players not all will be in the videos. I have seen L Smith and Campbell suited up seeming to practice. Which is great

Pictures of the players in the weight room.  Let's get this season going.

AVCA coaches preseason DI poll has Stanford at #21.  That seems about right to me.  Stanford is a total unknown until they prove something on the court.

I mean, sure.  But I think a dart thrown at a number line anywhere between 10 and 30 would be just as accurate.

Quote:Get the 2021 season started by joining head coach Kevin Hambly and the women's volleyball staff for Volleyball 101 on Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 6:30 PM PT. This virtual event is geared towards adults interested in learning the intricacies of the sport of volleyball and will cover rules of the game, basic terminology, a crash course on rotations and an explanation of match statistics. The evening will also touch on tactical in-match decisions and scouting.

As far as I know, this isn't limited to season ticket holders.

It's not, but you might have to be on their mailing list. When I inadvertently tried to RSVP using a different email address, I got an error page several times. Immediately after a couple of failures I tried the address that they'd sent my invite to, and it worked. I am not a WVB season ticket holder, but I have WBB and FB season tix and I've bought individual WVB tickets a few times through the same account.

Of course it can't hurt to try signing up!

It's not. The main purpose is to help build a fan base.

I'm optimistic that they will move up quickly, exactly by proving it on the court.  They have a lot of talent.

The RichKern.com preseason poll puts Stanford at #16, FWIW.

I hope you are right and I am wrong.  Here is my guess.  They win the first two matches and lose the next six matches.  I would prefer this insanely difficult non-conference schedule next year when key players will be more experienced.

https://gostanford.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster

The roster has the bios of the incoming freshmen but not their pictures yet.  Here are a few tidbits I found interesting:

Kalissa Greene; older sister played volleyball for MIT.

Maiya Tillman; graduated salutatorian from St Joseph High School in Victoria, Texas.

Kami Miner; father Harold Miner still ranks as the all-time leading scorer (2,048 in three seasons) in USC history.

This wasn't in the bio.  I recall Harold Miner winning an NBA dunk contest back in the day.

Photos were taken today so will be up soon

Olympian Thompson now a Stanford assistant: "Her energy, enthusiasm, and positivity are unmatched” (volleyballmag.com)

good story

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - johnbar - 08-17-2021

I got an email confirming my order for a scrimmage ticket, but no ticket.
Are they just checking names at the door...?

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball - CompSci87 - 08-17-2021

Did anyone else catch Hambly's answer to a question near the end of the Volleyball 101 zoom today, where he let on how the setter competition is going? I didn't really hear the question, but it must have been about how the freshmen were doing. He said something positive about Sami Francis that I didn't catch, then said (if I heard right!) that Kami Miner is ahead in the competition for starting setter, and that Taylor Beaven will definitely play as a DS. He then mentioned the other freshmen briefly.
