Now finally the road warriors get to go home after 6 away matches.
Reviewing the match today, I’ve changed my mind just a little about Hambly’s “serve tough, don’t worry about errors” philosophy. In that 33-31 marsthon third set, Stanford was serving for set point. Two side outs in a row, the serve went long. Maybe in a set like that consider easing up just a bit.

My ESPN i-phone app shows it airing on ACC Extra, which streams on the ESPN app so maybe also elsewhere?
Mine, too.

But also, the set-clinching point was an ace.

Easing up means the other team can make a good pass to the setter for the lol easy kill. That’s not good volleyball

Gotcha. Maybe take just a teeny bit off the serve. Yes, I realize that may be impossible.

Real would have been a great get. However, our volleyball recruiting continues to remain really strong. I did hear broadcasters say on ESPN last night that Hambly said Stanford volleyball will be involved in revenue sharing. Not sure what that will involve but hopefully a way to help retain our best players going forward with some compensation.

I don’t know what WVB might be getting. I do know WBB and softball. However from Social media some WVB players are getting NIL but true NIL. Like buy their shirts I have a couple

Texas beat Louisville last night, 3-2. Louisville was up 2 sets to 1, and did have one match point in set 5. But Texas prevailed.

Has anyone seen anything about pre-match Chalk Talks this year?
I was assuming they would continue, but in the past they always sent an email a few days before home matches.
(Perhaps I am just impatient.)
ETA: Never mind, got the email.

Our recruiting is not strong. We are no longer getting the kind of top-5 pin hitters that you need to win national championships. Real would have been one of those. This is a brobdingnagian problem.

When the recruit says I don’t need 7-8 AP classes for xyz colleges then we have no shot at them.
In another note e mail out chalk talk at 5:20 tomorrow

Has this been a change, or has it always been ~50% of courses being APs (I’m assuming a student takes about 6-7 courses a year, and generally will be taking APs their sophomore and junior years, with maybe a couple their sophomore years). My recollection had been that, at least in football, the requirement was 2 APs, from 10-15 years ago.

7-8 per a recent get together for WVB. I’m pretty sure same for all sports except Football I’ve heard less for mbb also

Does that mean a minimum of 7 AP classes before submitting their application? If so, they would have to take AP classes starting as a sophomore at the latest.

I have to ask what may well be a stupid question. Are we simply writting off all applicants from very small schools who do not have access to these classes? There are still vast expanses of the USA where the towns are small, the schools smaller, and the education budgets even smaller.

A very famous football grad did not have access to AP classes.
We have had excellent athletes who were home schooled
I’m sure we all know admissions is not cut and dried

versus Utah State. Three serves into the bottom of the net in the first set. Otherwise pretty darn good playing for Stanford.

Second set a little tighter. Harvey player of the match so far.

After the second set I'm thinking this match might be over after three sets.
