I count 10 players or maybe 9 unsure about one. Plus 2 ?? Photoshopped    Not sure I see Swain.  Thoughts ? Or ?

um... Swain is right in the middle of the front row...

Looks more like Cardboard cutouts than photoshop...

Well - I just had to ask about the 2 back row "benchwarmers" but it seems commenting is disabled - my regard for the "program" has managed to drop even further....

Well, I suppose it could be worse, Stanford and our women’s basketball coach haven’t gotten sued… yet.

I've posted my report on my recent interview with Kate Paye. It's on the Fast Break Club site, www.stanfordfbc.org, under Richter Reports. Because it went in just recently, the teaser hasn't been updated.

This is a very hard nonconference schedule for our very unproven team. My feeling is probably too hard. We will likely be underdogs to Washington, Colombia (Ivy powerhouse), Auburn, AZ State, and Ohio State. Gonzaga and Arizona will be tough too.

Site is up again but it’s the mid July story

RE: WBB 2026-2027 season - Card10Fan - 08-31-2026

I’ll play devils advice for a second.

We have gone 8-10 the past 2 seasons in conference. This year we have Notre Dame, Duke, Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson all on the road.

For nonconference, we will be underdogs against Washington, Az State, Ohio State, Auburn, and probably Columbia.

If things play out that way those 5 nonconference loses plus another 8-10 conference season puts us at 15 loses so overall record around 17-15.  That is likely not good enough to make March Madness for the third straight season. With how much was lost I don’t see any reason to be anymore optimistic than that.

Yeah, my optimism vanished when the AD never bothered to explain what happened, or how we're course correcting. Couldn't bring myself to renew my season tickets this year because I just can't bring myself to feel excited about this.

RE: WBB 2026-2027 season - 81alum - 09-01-2026

I did not renew either.  Going to all the games last year was actually beginning to feel like a chore--having more success certainly would have made those trips more fun.  But the many changes to college athletics have sapped my enjoyment of the game more generally.  Hard for me to get excited when I have no attachment to the players on the team and when college sports in general have lost the nostalgic vibe that they once held.  If I do get interested in sports again it will be either at the high school or the pro level.

RE: WBB 2026-2027 season - Card10Fan - 09-02-2026

I did not renew either. Although I’m always still cheering for our players to succeed, I’m mad at the AD for his handling of matters last spring. This just felt like the season to not renew.

RE: WBB 2026-2027 season - BobK - 09-02-2026

Why mad at the AD ? He didn’t make 7 players and an assistant coach leave

Bob, I don't mean to rehash the past, but when the 7 players announced they were leaving, many of us wrote to the AD to express concern with the rumored allegations of verbal abuse and toxic culture that had resulted in the unprecedented number of transfers out, as well as the on-court performance the past season which seemed evident of "something rotten in the State of Denmark." And during that period, I communicated with multiple players/their family and I very much believe the allegations were true based on what they could say (it was also very clear they were under NDAs and couldn't get into specifics, which itself is kind of concerning).

The AD's response to me, and many others, was, in relevant part: "I am reviewing the feedback we are receiving and incorporating it into our ongoing discussions and standard year-end review process. We are being thoughtful in our approach and expect to share more publicly in the coming week."

No more was ever shared. Not conclusions, not concrete changes, nothing. Just an empty webinar telling us how difficult it is to be a college coach these days. The AD has given those of us with concern zero evidence to think anything meaningful will change. Are we supposed to believe everything was due to Katy Steding alone? Well if so, I guess the AD could tell us. Otherwise, that feels rather farfetched.

So TL;DR, I don't wish KP ill, but I am not going to throw money behind a program I have serious concerns is not actually doing well by its student-athletes. And honestly, spending 2+ hours driving to Maples to watch us wildly underperform week in, week out, is throwing good time after bad money. So to me, the burden is on Stanford to win back my support. So far, it's done absolutely nothing to try.

+1

I did renew, but that was more because I'd feel guilty for not supporting our wonderful players who made the decision to stay.

But I'm already dreading the slog to get there, made a stupid decision to switch seats, and really REALLY got mad at myself after the AD's latest song-and-dance. And the best that he could muster was wanting WBB to be a Top 25-30 team? I'm old enough to remember when it was said it would compete for championships.
