Time to rev up the trivia board again…

Who holds the NFL record for most interceptions in a season?

RE: Sports trivia thread - Phogge - 10-19-2021

Nighttrain Lane?

RE: Sports trivia thread - BobK - 10-19-2021

I don’t remember the exact number 12 or close. Must still be Night Train

Interceptions thrown (QB) or interceptions made (DB)?

I think Lane is the answer for most interceptions made.  I think George Blanda threw over 40 interceptions in 1962, which has to be the record.

BC

14 in 12 games

Yep.  Lane had 14 in 1952.

Since then, the closest anyone has come to that total is Lester Hayes with 13 in 1980.

Next question…

Who holds the career record for INTs in the NFL?

RE: Sports trivia thread - BobK - 10-19-2021

I peeked. Would not have guessed.

RE: Sports trivia thread - Phogge - 10-19-2021

Paul Krause. Shot a couple of them.

RE: Sports trivia thread - Phogge - 10-19-2021

To Cardinal pitcher Curt Simmons what was a “Baseball Special?”

RE: Sports trivia thread - Phogge - 10-20-2021

Ordering from a hotel cafe Simmons told the waitress he wanted a "Baseball Special." She didn't know. Back then all the players knew.

A cheeseburger.

Who was the last pitcher to record seven or more consecutive seasons with at least 20 wins?

RE: Sports trivia thread - Phogge - 10-20-2021

OK maybe time to wrap this topic up.

Lefty Grove the last to win 20 for seven straight.

If you all think we should drop this sub site speak up.

Vote to keep this site, which keeps me happy.

Fergie Jenkins won 20 for six years in a row and seven of eight years.  Incidentally, Jose Urias was the only pitcher in MLB to win 20 this year.  Wainwright was next most with 17.
