Who is the only player with a walk off inside the park HR?
on first question, I'd go with Rickey Henderson as he hit more lead-off HRs than anyone in history thereby ruining any chance for a no-hitter.

on the latter question, did you mean to ask who is the only Giant who recently hit a walk-off inside the park HR?
if not then, Tyler Naquin, Ken Griffey and Bobby Abreu for starters on walk-off inside the park HRs.

Some more near no-no trivia:

Which players (there are three) share the record for most times being the only players on their team to record a hit in a game?

Which players (there are two) share the record for breaking the most no-hitters in the ninth inning?

Which pitcher has had the most no-hitters broken up in the ninth inning?

Which pitcher has had two perfect games broken up in the ninth inning?

Bob Welch who won 27(!) for the A's in 1990.  He was supposed to have been the Game 3 starter in 89 World Series.  When the series resumed, La Russa started Dave Stewart, who had pitched game 1, and used his Game 2 starter for Game 4.  Since the A's swept, Welch never had a chance to pitch in the World Series.

Bob Welch the last to win 25 plus?

And Bobbbb, post more often. Felt lonely for awhile.

RE: Sports trivia thread - BobK - 10-21-2021

Ricky Henderson Homered to break up the most no hitters. Lol Slide is correct for the right reason.

I think my walk off answer must be wrong I’ll try again.

Only 2 players have been MVPs not same year necessarily in the All Star Game, league play and World Series.
Hint they have something in common

RE: Sports trivia thread - slide - 10-21-2021

Bobbk -- I think your question is incorrect.  who was the last Giant to hit a walk-off inside-the-park HR?  Pagan.

Derek Jeter won ROY and the MVPs you cite.  I am not sure of the 2nd player .

RE: Sports trivia thread - BobK - 10-21-2021

MVP. League season, All star game and World Series all three. It’s two players only. Not Jeter

RE: Sports trivia thread - BostonCard - 10-21-2021

Hint on the player with two almost-perfectos... Stanford connection.

I am standing corrected.  I looked it up.  Jeter never won the AL MVP.

RE: Sports trivia thread - BobK - 10-21-2021

Mike Mussina two almost perfect games

RE: Sports trivia thread - BostonCard - 10-21-2021

Yup.  Did you know it without the hint?

Any guesses on the other near no-no questions?

I know Brooks Robinson won all three awards.

I don’t know the other guy.

if Brooks is one, then I'd go for Frank as #2

RE: Sports trivia thread - BobK - 10-22-2021

Darn I had good hints. Yes both the Robinsons.

BC never would have guessed without the hint

Name the only player to play with all 4 expansion teams?

RE: Sports trivia thread - Giants - 10-22-2021

Great question, Bob.  Since I had no idea, I checked the names of the guys who were selected.  It brought back a lot of memories about guys who weren’t stars but were every day grinders…..

Here is a question prompted by the Giants recently completed season in which they finished tied for 10th on the all time list of teams with the greatest difference between HRs hit and HRs given up (SF’s total was 90).

Which team, with a difference of 116, is at the top of that list?

RE: Sports trivia thread - BobK - 10-22-2021

The 116 didference? A long shot the 1947 Giants

Good guess.  The ‘47 Giants are #6 with 99.  That club holds the Giants’ franchise record.

RE: Sports trivia thread - BobK - 10-22-2021

Another guess. 1954 Indians

Nolan Ryan.  More to the point, those were the only teams he played for.
