Stanford 69 Arkansas 66 - StanfordMatt - 11-27-2015

Love Dawkins, hate Dawkins, whatever. What our boys pulled off today was pretty impressive. 21-1 run over the final 6:19 to rally from down 17.

Re: Stanford 69 Arkansas 66 - Stymie - 11-27-2015

I stopped watching when we were down by 17, but we ended up allowing only 1 point in the last 6 1/2 minutes and scored enough to win.  69-66!  Maybe there's hope for us yet.

If I were an Arkansas basketball fan, this game would make me sick to my stomach.  This was a bad loss for them.  We have nothing remotely resembling an elite team, but just enough grit and ability to make life treacherous for aspiring Pac-12 up-and-comers.

Caught the last 2 mins at the Council lunch.  Impressive comeback.  Not sure how good Arkansas is, but finishing a game on a 21-1 run is impressive against any opponent and a sharp contrast to many finishes in the current era.  Maybe a sign of good things to come.  TBD.

$EC...! :p  The Arkansas football team loses to Toledo, and the Arkansas basketball team loses to Stanford...

Re: Stanford 69 Arkansas 66 - burger - 11-27-2015

Dare I say it?  Dawkins made a few unconventional lineup decisions today that seemed to pay off.  After the starting five of Allen^2, Sanders, Humphrey, and Travis got killed by Arkansas' aggressive press and swarming defense, Dawkins switched to a smaller lineup for most of the game with just one big and 3 guards.  That seemed to keep us in the game.

Then in the final few minutes, he had (6-7!) frosh Cameron Walker in the game over Sanders at point guard for several possessions.  I assume this was for defense since Walker hardly touched the ball on offense.  Anyway, whether it was luck or skill for Dawkins, it seemed to work out.

Walker was bringing the ball up against man pressure.  He had it a lot
:)

I'm in the Bay over the weekend where Stanford plays Texas, but I'll be at a family dinner that night :(  Sigh!  Well, at least I'll get to watch the Stanford women play Texas the week before...

This game made Ken Pomeroy's second most unlikely comeback of the past week:

By the way, does it feel weird to anyone else that this game was only a week ago?  Yeah, we haven't played since then, but it still feels like half an epoch has gone by...
