WBK: Stanford vs. Texas - fullmetal - 12-01-2015

If any of you are interested in attending the game, check the private board for a discounted ticket promo code (great seats near Stanford bench) and more alumni club event details!  The game is on Sunday, Dec. 13th with a noon tip-off.  We'll probably grab a quick brunch at Denny's right beforehand.

Brunch in Austin and it's at Denny's?  😄
The post for Texas is the former Stafford who is now married. She was coached in HS by Vanessa Nyguaard

Denny's???  Why not just pb&j from home, on the steps outside?

Re: WBK: Stanford vs. Texas - fullmetal - 12-02-2015

My go-to places near the Erwin Center (i.e. reasonably walkable) have mostly been shuttered due to the construction of the new Dell Medical School at UT-Austin.  A whole chunk of Red River St. is permanently gone as it used to run through the now-being-constructed medical campus.  Goodbye Serrano's...

Brick Oven is closed until 5PM on Sunday, and Scholz Garten opens at 11am, too late for a noon tip-off.  Blue Dahlia, a great bistro on 11th St., is not conveniently walkable.

Ok you're forgiven.  😜.

Re: WBK: Stanford vs. Texas - fullmetal - 12-02-2015

I really, really wanted to do Scholz Garten.  They'd have to open at 10a to be worth it, and that means cook staff would have to be there an hour earlier.  Think they'd go for that?  (Sigh...)  Also, restaurants don't bring in the revenue necessary to maintain rent in that area (yet--the med school would be a lot of population density during business hrs, but that would just push real estate prices higher).

Re: WBK: Stanford vs. Texas - fullmetal - 12-02-2015

The amount of time needed to eat 12% of Texas's GDP at Scholz's is...prodigious.  Even at their slightly inflated prices.

Okay, all things that fill the stomach.  And wow, you must have had to carry him out the door.

Oh...that piano bar also encourages audience participation as well...
