30+ points -
BostonCard - 12-05-2015
We have now scored 30 or more points in 11 consecutive games since the game whose name shall not be spoken. That may tie the record for most consecutive 30 point games in a single season held by the Shaw/Luck team in 2011 (we started with 11 consecutive 30-point games, then put up 28 against Notre Dame). The 2010 edition started with 9 consecutive 30-point games, then put up 17 against Arizona, and then finished with two more.
I'm hoping we will make it 13 in a row.

By scoring 41 points, we made it 12 consecutive games, which is a record for recent memory; someone else can see if it is an all-time record. 13 in a row in one season would definitely be a record, since we didn't use to play 13 games, let alone 14.

Stanford had a streak from the end of 2010 to 2011 of 14 games in a row of 30 points or more. It ended when Stanford beat ND 28-14.
Stanford had a remarkable run from 2009 to 2011 (the Andrew Luck era). The team scored 27 points or more in 36 of 39 games. But as we know, they did not win any conference championships in that time.

That's why I added the caveat "in one season". I'd love to see the streak extend well into next season.

The offensive output this season has been truly remarkable. Kudos to Shaw & Co. for righting the ship after the NW debacle. Amazing! (And really fun to watch).
P.S. Most encouraging thing about CCG was Stanford's defense showing up and looking pretty darn good (big upgrade from previous 3 games).

We had Harris back for a little bit, and Holder as well. I was happy to see press coverage at the line, and I think the secondary did a great job of limiting the damage from U$C's receiving corps.

having Harris and Holder is hu.ge but real credit needs to go to the Warriors on the Dline. Amazing job after losing Phillips. And he's back next year, so move on!
Re: 30+ points -

Yeah, Phillips and Thomas (who will both be redshirt sophomores) will be a great nucleus for the offensive line. However, we do lose Shittu and Scarlett, so the line will be thin again next year.

Thin, yes. But if they are warriors?

If Stanford can do that on January 1 (score 30+ points) it would be the first time in its Rose Bowl history. Stanford has never scored more than 27 in Pasadena on January 1. Are we expecting another Wisky, Sparty Big 10 type of game? Relatively low scoring? Hope Stanford puts the foot down from jump street and never lets up myself.
Here are the all time Rose Bowl point outputs from Stanford in order: 0, 10, 7, 7, 0, 13, 7, 21, 7, 27, 13, 9, 20, 20, ??
A win would also even Stanford's record in the Rose Bowl at 7-7-1.

If we can force some early Iowa punts, I can see us turning this into a blowout by halftime (like the 28-3 it should've been vs USC).Â

Oh great and mighty Woofing Gods - please forgive this innocent soul his momentary lapse and allow him to repent and be saved. Amen.
Please recite five "Hail Stanford Hail's" and go on your way in peace.

Woofing alert!! Woofing alert!!!!
Somehow I get the impression that there will be a much stronger impulse to woof at our Rose Bowl opponent than is typically the case for our other foes. There is a very discernible undercurrent of disrespect toward the Hawkeyes among some of the folks on this board, all couched in the appropriate caveats and platitudes about "staying focused". And, after all, The CardBoard is just a place to vent normal fan excitement and enthusiasm. But the parallel dynamics for the players are also in play. I think Shaw and the coaches will actually need to be very astute to pick up any signs of complacence arising from the pervasive sense that Iowa is not really all that serious a threat.
