This is not meant to criticize anyone, but I am convinced there could not be a less appropriate nickname for Christian McCaffrey that WildCaff.
Far from being wild, he is utterly disciplined; it's his salient trait.
And he is humble and soft-spoken.Â
And more and more.
I understand the desire to fix a moniker on our young marvel, but this seems almost as bizarre as calling a 160 pound, former national class marathoner--then, with a 133 pound frame--Hulk. (It's an old high school name, before I took up running ridiculous distances.)
Just my view, but for me, hearing this new nickname is like hearing a fingernail working its way across a chalk board.

It is more about the formation than anything else.
I am astounded at how ambivalent about a formation that I have hated for years. When McCaffrey is in the WildCat I am much more of the "interesting wrinkle" than the previous "WTF? NO!!!!!"

This is correct. It is a pun.

I always preferred the LoveCat for when we have Bryce Love back there.

Regardless of the explanation, I'm with Hulk. Not my favorite nickname. I liked the "Son of Stanford" moniker someone else came up with.Â

Completely agree. I prefer McTough.

Hmmmm, I'd sort of reverse that.

Was commenting specifically on when Bryce Love is the wildcat. I agree on McLovin when McCaffrey is the wildcat and Love is running the jet sweep.

Superbad is one of my all time favorite comedies, so I'm disappointed I've never thought of this.
