well... she could do a lot worse than Cory - FrankO - 04-24-2016

Cory would be a good choice for her if true

I think she could be a very bad choice for Cory, however.  I think she might do a lot of damage to his "brand" so to speak.

Along those lines, I wonder who would ally him/herself with The Donald as a running mate?  Particularly given the damage it could do to one's brand.

Christie has sold his soul to Trump, although they don't get much geographical diversity that way.

Mrs. Mick thinks it will be the New Mexico Governor, Susana Martinez.  Female (check), young (check), Western (check), Republican (check), Governor (triple check), 25 year prosecutor (check) and one of TIME's 100 Most Influential People.

Re: Cory Booker, VP candidate... - BostonCard - 04-24-2016

Martinez might be wishful thinking.  She'd be a good pick for a running mate (as would Nikki Haley from South Carolina), and CW has been that John Kasich has just been auditioning for the VP slot.  In fact, Republicans have a fairly broad range of solid VP candidates to chose from, a function of having a "deeper bench" than Democrats, having more senators and governors.

OTOH, you would think that with all the quality candidates, they would have picked someone better than Trump or Cruz, but, alas, no.

When Marco Rubio is announced as Trump's running mate, it will be example #4,345,876 that a politician only lies when he or she opens his or her mouth.

I don't see Cory with Clinton.  I hope he stays just far enough away from the fireworks, but that he gets some solid center stage time at the convention.  The football team has had plenty of #2's of late.  My hope and belief is that he'll become Stanford's next US President.  He seems to be making all/most of the right moves and continues to build his credibility.

If you think Clinton is going to win the general election and if you really want Booker to be President, then you should want him to be the VP nominee.  It's certainly possible to win a presidential election as a senator or governor, but the odds are better as a VP.  Also, if Booker is not the VP, then Booker will have to contend with whoever does fill that position in future Democratic primaries, unless that person is so old as to be unelectable.  If course, if you think Clinton is going to lose, then you're right that Booker should stay far away.

Well, the most likely path from VP to President is due to the death of a sitting president; it has happened 8 times, most recently after JFK's assassination; there was also Nixon's resignation, but then again, Ford was appointed, not elected.  Vice Presidents subsequently getting elected hasn't happened as often as you might think; only five have, and, aside from George HW Bush it hasn't happened all that often recently.  There's Bush and Nixon, and before that Martin Van Buren, and before that it was Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.

But they'd have both the left and right covered.  Banks of the Hudson, I mean.

Personally, I'd put Claire Underwood on the ticket.  She gets shit done.

My 20 year old just taught me a new acronym, SJW or "Social Justice Warriors."

Doesn't an acronym have to be pronounceable?

They don't necessarily rank up there with the Spartans or Saracens as far as warriors go, but in their natural university territory they can be quite formidable.

I think Conor Friedersdorf has done some good articles on The Atlantic about the pitfalls of the SJW/micro-aggression mindset, particularly as campus administrators have used the concept of safe space and free speech suppression against them.
