Two things:
1) not surprising if you've followed the Outside the Lines stuff. Only question now is whether Briles gets it too -- and IMO he richly deserves the axe as well.
2) more of an inside baseball thing, but how embarrassed is this NYT reporter?

"I wrote an article without mentioning the Number One Most Important Thing in Ken Starr's life right at this moment."
I know we're currently debating the appropriateness of politics on this board, so I'll keep this neutral: for almost all participants in the Clinton impeachment -- save for Bill himself -- their involvement was bound to be both the first line and major subject of their obituary. And, sadly -- for someone like Monica Lewinsky -- it seems something that they would never outlive. Imagine, that Starr would succeed at transforming his legacy: there will definitely be other, worse parts of his obituary now.

I'm surprised that Briles and the AD aren't also being shown the door at the same time

I don't know if the same group that is responsible for firing Starr is also responsible for firing or not firing Briles and the AD, but assuming the group is one and the same, and taking at face value for conversation's sake that Starr's firing was warranted (simply to isolate the two items of (1) the firing of Starr and (2) the firing/not firing of Briles/the AD), a cynical view might be that the group will obtain for itself sufficient political cover that the group is taking this scandal seriously while at the same time preserving Baylor's prospects for continued on-field football success to the maximum extent possible.

The story I heard (on the radio) is that Starr's firing is precisely to avoid Briles' firing.
The gave an unattributed quotation to the effect of, "We're not going to get rid of Moses."

Ya, you'd think the NYT would at least have "Embattled" pre-fixed to the name "Ken Starr" in light of what's going on at Baylor right now, given he is the President and all.
I saw Ken Starr mentioned on the NYT today and thought "oh, is Starr out at Baylor?"Â

Sounds like a football team with a university attached.

A pretty
damning indictment of Starr.

What a read.
Quote:With strong policies against drinking and premarital sex, Baylor has an enthusiasm for Jesus matched only by its passion for football.
Clearly Baylor's passion is for self-righteousness and PR, not Jesus.
