Now that I no longer play golf, summer seems a waste of time. Let's play college football seven months a year, say mid-June to mid-January. Maybe two weeks off between some games, to recover, celebrate the last wins, and predict the next one.Â
These hiatuses are just lousy, even if the O's are winning.Â

Yes, if we had a solid #2 type guy, it could make us real contenders. Because holy m o g, these guys can whale on it. Schoop, not even among the three big power guys in the lineup, launched one 427 feet two nights ago. And Davis does that with a swing that looks like my easy practice backhands in tennis, which propel the ball at roughly the speed of my 40.Â
If it's true that chicks dig the long ball, the groupies lined up at Camden must reach five deep on most nights.

Meanwhile, the Giants will continue just slinking along at 47-27, off everyone's radar because they saved their 26-8 stretch for May to June, after everyone already anointed the Cubs champions for starting the season with that same run.

Not according to fivethirtyeight, which rates the Giants second (behind the aforementioned Cubs), and assigns them a 10% chance of winning the World Series.

The O's are up there with a 55% chance of making the playoffs and a 5% chance of winning the World Series. It is shaping up to be a fascinating AL East race between the Orioles, Red Sox, and my Blue Jays.

The O's are a bit more surprising than the Giants. The O's were projected to come in last by virtually everyone. And the way they play...first in home runs and near worst in starting pitching makes for wild games where neither team is ever out of it. Love to see an all orange and black World Series.

Nothing would make me happier than an Os Giants World Series... I'd get to see my Os play in the WS at ATT... Please!
