The most touching story about Stanford football I've ever read - Bruce Wang - 09-01-2016

Trust me.  This is a must read.

I've mentioned this before that I lived in Memphis for a brief period and it was an important experience for me.  If there are any CARDboarders in Memphis, try to connect with Robert.  I'm sure he would love to watch some games with fellow fans.

Led by John Paye over $ 5,400 has been raised for Robert.  A fine man and a joy to talk to.

Great story!  Thanks for sharing this Publius.  He's seen both the downs and the ups with our program.  Good for him and good luck to him!

Thanks for sharing this. The link to the crowdsourcing fundraiser for Josiah is at https://fundrazr.com/319mW7?ref=sh_b5sF18

On the fundraising page, John Paye wrote :
Thank you so much for your contributions to Robert Mitchell's fundraising event. Robert calls me every other day to say how excited he is. The 3 big things we are going to be able to do for him now are the following:

1. Pay for a new white cap for his front tooth that was fractured during pre game warm ups last year during the Stanford vs. Central Florida game.
2. Host 56 other developmentally delayed young adults from the San Mateo County Office of Education at the tail gate party who are all striving to be able to find meaningful "work/jobs" like Robert in our community.
3. Create photo opportunities at the party for Robert to finally get his wish to be pictured with his Stanford sports heroes.**To help us reach our fundraising goal of $5000 (we are over half way there) can you post this link

Any chance he will be an honorary captain tomorrow?

Ok a great choice.  It's Dean Shaw.

Robert would have been a better choice as honorary captain for many reasons.

Well... - Redrum - 09-02-2016

Dean Shaw deserves to be on the Mt. Rushmore  of Stanford football.  He was key from turning an admissions office from football-hostile to a disciplined openness to work with the athletic staffs of all sports to find a balance that brings some of the best scholar-athletes to Stanford. It's not coincidental that Stanford football revived.  So his selection isn't irrational or mean.

But I would support Robert Mitchell sharing the honor with Shaw. (PS I donated to his fundraiser)

Thanks for sharing, Publius. It's always great to read stories like this, Stanford-related or not.
