The quote I read from Pete Carrol seemed to indicate they're always open to listenting to offers for anyone, but that Sherman had a tough year in 2016 "mainly due to self inflicted wounds". Probably in reference to the fights he had on the sideline with coaches. If you're always open to talking about trades with any player, why call out Sherman? That should be a blanket statement. Wondering if this public discussion is supposed to be a warning shot to RS for some reason.

I sure hope Sherman stays in Seattle. Pete Carroll seems to foster a culture that allows anti-establishment players like Sherman to be themselves and prosper.  And yes, it makes me throw up a little bit in my mouth to have to say positive things about Pete Carroll.  But it seems like Sherman really thrived under Carol, as opposed to how he did under Harbaugh.

I think Richard Sherman's contract is up at the end of the 2017 season(?). Perhaps they want to let him know that his popularity with the fan's will not allow him to hold them up in the negotiations. If he wants "too much money" for his next contract, they want him to know that they are perfectly willing to trade him which he decidedly doesn't want.
