Stanford softball lost to #4 Arizona 20-1 today -

Ugly, brutal loss. 20-1 in five innings. The Wildcats scored 13 runs and hit five home runs in the first inning. They got 17 hits overall. Bright side, we only struck out six times, Sorenson got two hits, Burks had a pinch hit home run.
This is nauseating. It is a sad, sick, sorry little joke.

Maybe our coach hasn't told our pitchers that it's fast pitch softball.

Our coach is completely incapable of helping our pitchers develop on their talent. Case in point: One of our Top 100 recruits gave up 8 earned runs and 2 HR's in 1.1 innings tonight.
On another note, I have made the point over the last few weeks regarding Stanford's inability to advance runners. Tonight's advancement opportunities stats: Stanford (1-12, 8.3%), Arizona (19-23, 82.6%).

The good news after one inning the team knew it would be a short game
Our ace walks 5 in the first inning. That's just sad

Those walks could have been due to anything, but I wonder if one factor that might have played into it is that the pitcher knew she was going to have very little run support in this game and had to hold Arizona to 0 or 1 run for us to have a chance to win. Then she tries to make her pitches too good and walks 5.

From watching the game, it appeared to be more she just didn't have it last night, in the toughest road environment in the conference. A lot of the balls that led to walks were unfortunately not competitive pitches.
For perspective, our worst loss during 2015, when we had position players pitching in the circle in Coach Hanson's first year, was a 20-0 loss to Arizona State. This year, with 5 healthy pitchers, we lose 20-1.

Unfortunately, no Bob. My feeling is the players deserve so much better than this.

Here's some more perspective. In Rittman's entire career, his worst loss was by 13 runs, 15-2 to UoP the day after Stanford beat them 3-1. In his entire career, he had seven losses by either 10 or 11 runs, and one by 13. Hanson had eight losses of 10 or more runs in her first year.
Nice going, Bernard. Way to hire a great coach.

In light of how well other Stanford womems teams have been performing, this is pathetic amd unacceptable.
