Spring football awards - terry - 05-11-2010

Stanford\'s spring football awards, announced by Harbaugh today:

Most improved offensive player -- Zach Ertz
Most improved defensive player -- Alex Debniak
Most improved special teams player -- Jarek Lancaster
Most valuable player in the spring game -- Nate Whitaker
Highest GPA in the fall quarter -- Andrew Luck and Chase Beeler
Highest GPA in the winter quarter -- David Green
Ralston Trophy to winning coach in spring game -- Tim Drevno

I think I remembered them all. Apologies if I left anything out.

And who is Zach Ertz?  Most improved but still unknown?

Re: Spring football awards - slide - 05-16-2010

Ertz was a very highly regarded TE coming out of HS.  depending on the recruiting service you prefer, anywhere from top 5 nationally to top 10 nationally.

good size (6\'6" and 245) with good hands.  caught 14 TDs as a HS Sr.

he and another highly regarded TE -- Toilolo -- came into a TE logjam at Stanford.  Dray (now in NFL), Fleener, Reuland and Lorig (TE in short yardage situations and now in NFL) filled up the depth chart.  this fall I would not be surprised to see Fleener moved wide to slot position to use his unique size/speed combo and the redshirt TEs move atop the TE depth chart.

here\'s the Ertz bio:

Quote:here\'s the Ertz bio:

In the bio, it lists his \'Experience\' as SQ. What does that mean...or is it a typo for Sophomore?
