NCAA announces future championship sites -

NCAA announces sites for championships in many sports through 2022. Some highlights:
San Jose to host women's College Cup in 2019 and 2021
Santa Barbara to host men's College Cup in 2018 and 2020
No championship sites in Mountain or Pacific time zones for women's volleyball, M/W swimming, M/W rowing, M/W tennis M/W cross country or M/W golf. Of course, we don't know if any western schools or conferences bid to host these championships.

Quiz:Â Name an NCAA sport in which teams from a single state have won more than 1/4 of all the NCAA championship, but the NCAA has never held a championship in that sport in that state.

Women's swimming? From what I can tell, the championship has never been held in CA
Men's swimming has only been in CA twice in 81 years

Men's rowing isn't an NCAA sport, but it looks like Women's rowing won't be back at Lake Natoma for the forseeable future. In fact, the next six national championships will all be held in the eastern time zone.

Right (WSwim), with 9 championships for Stanford, 4 for Berkeley, 1 for USC (14 in California) of the 36 championships (1982-2017). The only rationale I can think of is the lack of indoor facilities for a meet in March. I don't see that an NCAA Women's D-I Swim Championship has ever been west of the Central Time zone.
MSwim D-I championship has been in the Pacific Time zone 6 times in the 81 years (if "Washington" means the school, vs the city), with 2 in California ("Long Beach State", so presumably the Belmont pool). 8 championships for Stanford, 5 for Berkeley, 9 for USC (22 in California).

Well, I look forward to watching Stanford play in the men's College Cup in 2018 and 2020! Perhaps I'll meet up with a few CARDboarders? Santa Barbara is a nice place to visit in December--and the other 11 months of the year.
This year's College Cup is in Philadelphia, December 8 and 10, by the way.
