Stanford football hosted Brenda Tracy, who describes herself as "RN, MBA, Rape Survivor, #HumanRights Activist, Speaker, Civilian Lobbyist, & member of @NCAA Committee to Combat Sexual Violence"

Sounds like she made an impression.

Re: Set the expectation - murky - 04-21-2017

I like it.  Looks like we are making the expectations clear to our team.  There are some things that should be able to go without saying, but past headlines have proven that they need to be said.

Re: Set the expectation - GoodGrief - 04-21-2017

""I'm not here because you are the problem. I'm here because you are the solution."

That is a pretty awesome and powerful quote.

Re: Set the expectation - fullmetal - 04-21-2017

What a great way to frame the issue and the context of her speech!

Re: Set the expectation - 2006alum - 04-21-2017

This is exactly what needs to happen. Great to see her meeting with teams, great to see coaches ensuring it happens, great to see players listening and (hopefully) getting the message.

Re: Set the expectation - Griffins78 - 04-21-2017

I agree. I'm so glad David Shaw invited her to speak and the team responded in such a positive way. Alternatively, this is the response when she spoke to the Baylor football team last Fall:

Here's the SJMN article

[url=http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/04/21/stanford-football-team-meets-with-rape-survivor-to-troubleshoot-culture-of-sexual-violence/]Stanford football team makes pact with rape survivor over collegiate culture of sexual violence[/]
Quote:Tracy also serves on the NCAA’s Commission to Combat Campus Sexual Violence, which was formed last year and counts among its 26 members one football coach: Shaw, who was “floored” to be included.

Re: Set the expectation - BostonCard - 04-21-2017

I could not be more proud of the team or its coach.

Re: Set the expectation - Hurlburt88 - 04-22-2017

It also seems like Mike Riley may be stepping up a bit 20 years later by inviting her to Nebraska.

Re: Set the expectation - Leftcoast - 04-22-2017

Riley has apologized and first invited Tracey to speak to his team two years ago.  I think that discussion and it's impact on the Nebraska team led to her role with the NCAA.
