NFL Draft Attendance -
StanfordIndians1 - 04-22-2017
1/3 of the 22 players are from one conference- the PAC! Not bad!

I have not seen the list, but assuming Thomas & McCaffrey both attend then we'll have 1/11th of the attendance?Â

The list is in the URL below. Thomas and Shaw will be there. McCaffrey will not.

I wonder why McCaffrey won't be there. Everyone seems all fired-up certain that he's a lock Top 15 pick. Here's the nfl.com analyst projections:
#8Â Reuter
#8Â Jeremiah
#14 Drew
#14 Brooks
#19 Casserly
#20 Zierlein

Probably similar reasons as to why Myles Garrett, O.J. Howard, Reuben Foster, Malik Hooker, Mike Williams, David Njoku and Dalvin Cook chose not to attend.

I certainly am curious why so many projected first round picks are skipping the NFL draft. It seems there is an underlying reason that has something to do with wanting to avoid the public spotlight. Maybe the beginnings of a cultural shift away from self-promotion?

In your DREAMS... and mine.

Or maybe, CMac has a promise from somebody (my guess is the Panthers) that he likes and wants to avoid the hype.

Another factor may be that the festivities and parties in New York were an attraction, Philadelphia less so.

I wondered that too, but Philly is an awesome city!

I hope you are right about that !

Just bought and began reading my local rag (Jacksonville Times-Union) and they've got lots of good ink regarding their Jags no. 4 pick, focusing on the need for a RB. Fournette is their focus, but they've got 2 reasonably decent and young RBs already (Yeldon and Ivory), and they see Fournette as their no 1,but if and only if he can have a 1,400 yard year (nearly of Ezekiel proportions). After that, whose no 2 on their list? Why C Mac, of course! Fitting in with Yeldon and Ivory in a threefer-cubed of possible sets. That being said, they expect CMac to go well before their 2nd pick (35), expecting the Panthers at no.8 , if he's not selected earlier.

Ok, I'll bite...why won't
they be there?

Was CMac invited? I didn't think he was. Invites went out before he started moving up the draft prognosticators board back when he was a predicted late first round pick. Projected late first rounders don't normally get invites to the green room.

According to CBS Sports the invitations were FedExed just a little over two weeks ago, so McCaffrey was surely invited. Besides, up to 30 players have taken part in prior drafts, so any projected first round pick is invited.
Richard Deitsch reported today that ESPN will be reporting live from two draft parties as part of their coverage on Thursday night: Myles Garrett's party in Dallas and Christian McCaffrey's party in Denver.

If I were CMac, I'd be partying in Denver too, given the shafting that he got from the East Coast/SEC Mafia in the 2015 H award fiasco.

Maybe his family didn't want to travel to Philly mid-week and upset a lot of their lives. Thursday isn't the most convenient time for a big, out of town event.
