Kind of a twofer.

Notre Dame loses their highly rated center Tristen Hoge: http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/06/05/byu-lands-notre-dame-transfer-tristen-hoge/
ASU loses Cameron Smith as a grad transfer... to Notre Dame: http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/06/05/notre-dame-announces-signing-of-arizona-state-grad-transfer-wr-cameron-smith/

Stanford plays BYU in 2020, 2022, at BYU in 2023, and at BYU in 2025.  Hopefully we won't see Hoge all of those years.

More N.D. attrition, as another pair of formerly-highly-ranked players are leaving. Backup C Parker Boudreaux and backup TE Tyler Luatua: https://twitter.com/NDsidBertschy/status/872565253401448448?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet

With Hoge and Boudreaux leaving, it appears N.D. has no backup centers.

IIRC, we went after Hoge pretty hard, but his affection for ND kept him from seriously considering us.

That honeymoon was pretty short lived.
