Trading cards: http://footballscoop.com/news/innovative-new-recruiting-tool/

The inevitable next step to this is for some other program to develop trading cards of the recruits, showing them in the school uniform and writing blurbs about how awesome they are going to be if they join the program.

Mark my words, if there is a cool recruiting tactic, someone will take it too far.

Hey Bobbbbb, remember when we put them in the bike spokes and pitched them against the wall. And can't forget, "I'll give you ten Jim Delsings for your George Kell"?

You must have chewed a lot of bad bubble gum.

I tried to get all the '55 Yankees...even got a Mickey Mantle after about 5 Irv Norens. I looked up the roster and it's hard to believe but these guys were Yankees that year:

- Johnny Sain
- Enos Slaughter
- Marv Throneberry

And we used to laugh about this guy....I now learn to have been a native San Franciscan who died last summer in San Rafael. He couldn't hit a lick but he had a 10-year ML career, so.....

The Yanks had a thing with KC. Kept trading guys late in the season to get older guys who could insure winning the pennant. Demastri, Jerry Lumpe, Suitcase Simpson, others. I have the '53-56 sets plus Bowman FB 49-56. Pull them out about once a year to have a look.

My grandchildren would love these.

I was so enchanted with flipping baseball cards (tops, closest to the wall, knock down the leaner, etc.) and my goal of acquiring 50,000 baseball cards by the time I finished up 6th grade that I came within a year of having to repeat that grade due to lack of interest and attention.

I wonder if that would have ever factored into Dean Fred's decision-making process...
