Given the bye today, I enjoyed re-reading Hank's write-up from last weekend. In case any of you missed it, enjoy!Â

Thanks for sharing that, since I'd missed it.
I seem to recall reading/hearing somewhere that the timeout prior to the blocked punt was actually called because two players with the same number were on the field. Whatever it was, the end result was excellent.

I was the one who said that, in the game thread. Both #5s were on the field, one (Wedington) as the return man, and after the timeout the return man came out wearing #30.

And the announcers missed it and kept calling him Obi Eboh

Good writeup. As I posted before, it's amazing how far the Ducks have fallen in the last 2-3 years. Of course, now we have the resurgence of the Washington schools to contend with.

I grew up in Seattle, and if I had a nickel for every Rainier beer ad I heard I could retire.
Oops, I am retired. Anyway you get the point.

As a fellow Seattle native, you just saying that got the Rainier motorcycle add to run through my head.

The three that drove me nuts the most were:
1. It's Rainier in the West. Good ol' Rainier beer
2. Buy Buchans it's the bonnie good bread.
3. It's not just fresh but Carnation fresh. Milk, ice cream and cottage cheese.
(Apologies to non Seattleites for boring you with Emerald City nostalgia trivia).

What about Oly? The water of Tumwater....

One of the things I like best about Hank's column is the way the clips have the announcers silenced. On the first clip of Love's long touchdown in the first quarter, you can hear the typical quiet crowd explode as Love shoots through the hole and into the open field. It is great! Not related to the sound, but you also get to see the way everybody executes their blocks so that Love can wait for the lane to open, then use his speed to leave the safeties and corners in the dust.Â
Cheers,
Pete F.

I remember the introduction of Olympia beer in Wisconsin. Wags swiftly modified their slogan to "It's
the water!"

Yeah, I remember both Oly and Rainier as being pretty insipid. Of course, that's the way a lot of people liked their beer back then. In Washington, Coors had something of a cult following, probably because you couldn't get it there. A guy in my fraternity used to take a couple of six packs to his dad every time he went home to Tacoma.
