MBB - Haase creates Peter Sauer Memorial captainship positions - Spiny_Norman - 10-24-2017

Don't think I recall seeing anything on this story from a few weeks ago as MBB started fall practice.  Jerod Haase is really working hard to link to Stanford's past MBB success. He is planning a 20 year reunion of the 1998 Final Four team. As he connected with the players, everyone talked about Pete Sauer and what he meant to that team.  So Haase has given this year's MBB captains the title of Peter Sauer Captains.

I hope that the product on the court gets me as fired up and excited as the activity off it.  I really like what Coach Haase is doing to build the program.

Well, it starts with recruiting, and I guess we’ll find out soon enough if we have the talent. Haase inherited a mess and he seems to be a hard worker. I’m just grateful to be rid of Dawkins.

Different sports and all, but Jerod Hasse as Justin Wilcox seem to share a lot of the same characteristics. They both are doing things that suggest they "get it" in terms of knowing the questions to ask and what the best answers are for the particular strengths and weaknesses of their respective programs.  And they both appear to be tremendously motivated to not just be good, but be great.

I'm as high on Hasse's Stanford hoops program as about Wilcox and Cal football.
