Saturday other games - BostonCard - 10-28-2017

The interesting one is WSU at Arizona, both because WSU is our next opponent and because Richrod has found his QB at Arizona and has them playing well.  WSU is favored by 1.5 and should win, but we’ll see if WSU is for real.

Utah at Oregon features two teams we’ve played.  I guess Utah is favored because they have their QB back while Oregon doesn’t.  Utah should win, but they have not been playing well of late.

USC at ASU is another game that features two former opponents,  earlier in the year, I’d have thought it’d be a cakewalk for SC, but ASU has been playing better, and USC hasn’t.

Cal at Colorado is interesting because it features two 4-4 teams who started out pretty well, and yet have struggled lately.  At least Cal has that win over WSU under its belt; Colorado’s only conference win is OSU.  So I am a bit surprised that Colorado is favored (even at home).

UCLA at UW rounds out the action, but barring a major upset, UW should roll, leaving the Rosen ones at 4-4.

In other action, 6-1 NC State is at Notre Dame this week.  Notre Dame has played well, and is a going concern going forward.  They will be a big challenge for our defensive line to contain when we face them at home.

And of course, the big game for national implications (and H-award implications) is Sequon Berkeley and Penn State at Ohio State.  It’s really a shame we didn’t get to see Love against Oregon State.

Re: Saturday other games - Hurlburt88 - 10-28-2017

Cal Colorado seems to be all offense so far.

Re: Saturday other games - Hurlburt88 - 10-28-2017

Cal blinked first and punted . . . Colorado just drove 95 yards for touchdown and is up 21-7.  I am only 1/4 watching, but doesn't seem like Cal has come close to stopping Colorado who is mixing it up.

Re: Saturday other games - Hurlburt88 - 10-28-2017

CAl punted again, & Colorado drove for a field goal.  24-7 . . . Colorado looking in control

Re: Saturday other games - washingtonismoney - 10-28-2017

Saquon Barkley just returned a kickoff for a TD against ohio state. Hate to say it, but that's the sort of thing which wins players a H-word Trophy.

Re: Saturday other games - Langdude - 10-28-2017

I've given up on Bryce winning the H-award. While that would of course be preferable, I think it would be fun/funny to finish in second place yet again. The Stanford Award.

NC State gets the ... third or fourth? sack on ND's Wimbush, and it turns into a fumble-TD. Wimbush is a fantastic runner but not much of a thrower.

Re: Saturday other games - SamAtoms1980 - 10-28-2017

#8 and undefeated Miami almost crashes through the ice at North Carolina, a team that is roughly on par with Oregon State, but the Hurricanes will move out of town with the 24-19 win.

As the counselor from South Park would say, don't overlook opponents, cuz overlookin' opponents is baaaad, mmmkay?

Re: Saturday other games - pcgoode - 10-28-2017

Bruins hanging with the Huskies 9-10 about five minutes we into the second quarter.  Top two Huskies CBs out with injuries - can Rosen take advantage?

Re: Saturday other games - BostonCard - 10-28-2017

Worth a note: after a slow start (3/6 for 12 yards and 2 fumbled snaps), Harbaugh benched his quarterback and played his redshirt freshman, who went on to have a good game against Rutgers.

....and now rips off a 36 yard run for a TD....

Re: Saturday other games - BostonCard - 10-28-2017

34-14 Colorado over Cal into the fourth.  The bears have OSU, Stanford and UCLA left on their plate, so this was probably their best chance to put themselves in a position to get bowl eligible.  Figure a win against OSU, but it’s probably 50/50 for getting another win.

I had kind of looked forward to a Big Game between two bowl eligible teams, but now it will be Cal fighting for bowl eligibility (which is always dangerous).

Iowa State's Walk-on QB is looking fantastic against TCU and one of the best defenses in the country.  Cyclones lead 14-0.

Re: Saturday other games - BostonCard - 10-28-2017

Story of the game though is Iowa states defense holding TCU scoreless.

Re: Saturday other games - BostonCard - 10-28-2017

Cal goes down to Colorado 44-28, and the supposedly much better Cal defense surrendered 553 yards including 350 yards passing and 200 yards on the ground.  Most points and second most yards put up by Colorado this season.  I know Cal is missing it’s best linebacker, but... ugh.

You can only do it with mirrors so much.  At a certain point, the lack of physical talent on the field can't be overcome.

Re: Saturday other games - JJJ - 10-28-2017

Just tuned into UW vs UCLA. Huskies up 44-16 with under 5 minutes to go.
Studio update informed me that Northwestern is up 17-10 over Michigan State with a couple of minutes left.

*Apparently Mora chose to put Rosen in street clothes after an injury to his non-throwing wrist.

Re: Saturday other games - Durty Nelly - 10-28-2017

Ohio State coming back to lead Penn State with just over a minute to go with the ball.  Barkley had 2 TD's but did not produce much else.  PSU losing will not help his H award leadership.

Re: Saturday other games - North Woods - 10-28-2017

Barkley started strong but I’d have to think the loss combined with horrible rushing average hurt his campaign. We’ll see what the “experts” say though.

Re: Saturday other games - OutsiderFan - 10-28-2017

JT Barrett has to be in the conversation now.

He was 33/39 328 4 TDs and 0 picks.
