Stanford - ND will play on ABC at 5pm, the same time as the Apple Cup which will be on Fox.

A night game is good. Crowd should be pretty juiced.

In more ways than one!
But this game will be a bit of a disappointment because it doesn't appear that either team will have much to play for other than a better bowl game. Makes me want Stanford to schedule OOCs so that we don't end the season with one. If ND won't play at our house earlier in the season then we should find another strong program to schedule when the current contract is up.

What does the administration like, though? The Saturday after Thanksgiving is likely to have fewer people in town due to the holiday weekend, especially students. They are going to want something that guarantees butts in seats. Like it or not, ND does that, moreso than a random conference opponent might (aside from, say, Cal or USC).

We won't even be playing for a better bowl game. Win or lose, if all goes well, we'll still be playing against reptiles in the desert come New Year's.

Not saying this is necessarily a bad idea, but people have been making comments like this for years now and nothing changes, so it probably is beating a dead horse. ND likes to come to California this weekend (they do to U$C in alternate years) ostensibly because of recruiting, and we like playing them, probably because the game is a financial positive for us and also helps us in our national recruiting.

That's the problem. Strong programs that are in a strong conference mostly want to schedule OOC games that they can win. For example, Alabama pays the "victims" for the privilege. ND, OTOH, isn't in a conference and generally needs some at least respectable opponents to enhance their strength of schedule. We qualify, so it can be arranged. It will be very difficult to get a long term agreement with any "strong" program to play us home and home. Furthermore, like it or not ND draws better than lots of other programs would. It is a "good fit" for both sides, and that is why it persists.
FWIW, on some of the ND boards it is suggested they should get out of the arrangement because we win too often! Probably not happening, but if anything causes this series to end, I think it would be this idea.

I imagine the ND admin and fan base expected they were lining up another service academy type relationship. Highly respected institution they could normally beat. We seemed to have slipped some ipecac into their milk . . .

Well this year the Domers have been trying to return some of their allotment, so maybe they aren't traveling as well as in the past. Maybe their fanbase lost some enthusiasm after they lost the Miami game. 5pm start is good for the Grove. Hoping we can rise to the occasion and beat ND again! As much as I would like to see Bryce running wild, it's not worth it. Go UW!

I know we will play hard and play to win, regardless of whatever might or might not be happening the following week for the Pac-12 championship.
Our record against teams with a winning record this season is a mere 3-3. Wins: Oregon (6-5), ASU (6-5), UW (9-2). Losses: USC (10-2), SDSU (9-2), WSU (9-2). UW is really our only signature win. The ND game is an opportunity for another signature win against the #9 team in the land. It's a rivalry game, and it's on a national stage.
My only regret is that we either have to watch Bryce suffer again or watch him sit out.
