Georgia, Okie and Clemson so far, unless Miami has a big comeback.
Wisconsin looks overmatched. If tOSU holds on, they will be an 11-2 conference champ (like $C). Does 11-1 Bama really have a chance to sneak in over both tOSU and $C?
Guess well find out tomorrow.

I will go on record that Ohio State is definitely in ahead of Alabama if they win tonight.

Not a chance. The Mouse inked a big contract with the Big10 over the summer. No way will they allow a Big 10 team be excluded.

My first fear. Though Id rather not see tOSU in, too. :)

It would be nicely ironic if conference champ OSU was left out due to a 1-loss team not in their CCG.

It actually might be good, in that it would raise the ire of the B1G folks enough to get an 8 team playoff. The current situation is crazy. Despite all kinds of (pseudo and speculative) record "normalizations", there is no way to know that USC isn't better than Georgia unless they get into the playoff. Let them decide it on the field. Granted, no playoff system really picks the "best" team unless you play an infinite number of times with no changes in personnel health. However, 8 teams would be closer to adequate!

Does Larry Scott have any ire to raise? Maybe he can sign a new contract that assures games all start at 9. Midnight on East Coast. After all - no one else will be playing. And there should be Wednesday games as well.

Given that all the major CCG other than Big10 have been one-sided, playing on Saturday might have fielded decent ratings...

Pete Thamel's take:
Quote:The No. 4 spot in the College Football Playoff will come down to either No. 8 Ohio State or No. 5 Alabama, and it cuts to the core of college football and the cultures that obsess over it. On paper and thats the only place this will be played its riveting: Urban vs. Saban, Big Ten vs. SEC and, really, North vs. South. There will be calls about this debate on the Paul Finebaum show for years, as it cuts to the very identity of the fans and leagues directly involved.
Its hard to overstate the stakes. But who will get in? Well, thats easy.
Ohio State is going to end up as the No. 4 team in the College Football Playoff. Ohio State sputtered around on Saturday, as key turnovers, missed receivers and dropped passes injected more drama in this talent mismatch than should have existed. But the argument thats going to get Ohio State in the playoff goes much deeper than the tenor and final score of their final game.

If this were objective, it wouldn't be close.
Alabama's best win is over 9-3 LSU. It played one of four OOC games against a Power 5 team (6-6 Florida State), and lost to 3-loss Auburn
Ohio State has wins over two Top 10 teams as well as Michigan St who is arguably as good as LSU. It lost to CFP Oklahoma and on the road to 7-5 Iowa
The loss to Iowa runs against Ohio State, but Alabama has no wins against any Top 15 teams while Ohio State is 2-1 against the Top 10.
Alabama should be punished for its weak schedule

If Bama does get in, it's only because the committee set the precedent last year for allowing a team that failed to win their conference to get into playoff over a conference champion. Ironically enough, last year's committee decision benefited Ohio State. This year it may come back to bite them.Â

Well if the Big-10 gets left out (Alabama in over Ohio State), the only power conferences that would be left out of the playoffs would be the ones who played 9 conference games. Until the ACC and SEC play 9 conference games, they should be penalized. If this was 2018, Ohio State would not have played Iowa and wouldn't have a second loss. The SEC certainly shouldn't be rewarded with getting two teams into the playoff.

Well, if a two-loss team wins its conference championship game against a ranked opponent, albeit by less than a TD, and its only two losses were on the road to ranked opponents, why shouldn't it be considered? Oh wait....that's U$C....
Re: Does Bama sneak in if tOSU wins? -

Sorry but while U$C has a better claim on the last spot than Alabama, it has no claim over Ohio State. U$C's only quality wins are its two victories over Stanford. Like the SEC West, the rest of the Pac-12 South is full of teams that are mediocre at best.

Wow. The power of Alabama. If find it hard to believe that if Ole Miss or Mississippi State or Arkansas had the same resume as Alabama (only one loss but no big wins, not winning their division) that they would have made the playoff. Silver lining is that a Clemson/Alabama rematch will be fun to watch.

Will it be? They both have dominating defenses (assuming Alabama gets healthy) with mediocre offenses. I can see a 9-6 type of game.

Clemson has scored 31+ in each of their last five games, but a low scoring defensive battle can be fun to watch too.
