OT: Early admissions - Gauss - 12-09-2017

I just bumped into this subreddit about college admissions.
https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplyingToCollege/

Apparently, Stanford sent out the early admission decisions yesterday, so there are a flood of threads about our Alma mater. Here there's a long thread with people posting the decision as it arrived

As expected, some remarkable accomplishments among those accepted but also among those rejected (e.g., SAT: 1540 ACT: 35 Sat Math II: 800 Sat Chem: 750 National Merit Semi-Finalist Rank: 36/404 GPA (UW): 3.89 (All As) Essays: Spent a week or so on writing and perfecting my essays, with input from my parents and peers. Thought they were decent overall. EC: Band for four years, founded mechanical engineering club, NHS, some other honor societies).

There's also a bunch of specific threads such as:
To my fellow Stanford applicants... (this guy got rejected and will try to become a Trojan)
Anyone else happy they didn't EA to Stanford so they're not officially rejected yet?
I GOT IN.... (to the Stanford Reject Squad)
To everyone rejected by Stanford (or any other top school)
***** Stanford. Go Bears!!!!

I find these threads a bit sad as I can empathize with those rejected, but also interesting to have a sense of how the new generations are getting prepared for this important step in their lives. So I thought I'd share :)
