Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - Jskass - 01-10-2018

any insight on these recruits' ability to gain admission? Class of 2020 lists interest in #4,6, 7, 9 and 19 and it doesn't sound likely that even half that number of the top 10 would be admitted based upon recent experience.

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - BobK - 01-10-2018

Can't tell except if we are folowing them or offered them we think they have a chance.

We have the following opeings:
2019:  4
2020:  4
2021:  4
2022:  3

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - mbdude - 01-10-2018

From what I've read of Kennedy Brown she seems like a good get. Her and Amihere would be awesome

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - BobK - 01-10-2018

Yesterday Brown not only scored and rebounded but had 7 assists.

Bring back the Triangle

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - 2006alum - 01-10-2018

Thanks Bob! I share Jskass's view - it's so exciting to see so many top ten recruits interested in us, but I'm so jaded now that it's hard to believe any of it unless/until one commits.

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - 81alum - 01-10-2018

Bob, that is great information and very exciting to see the interest.

I am particularly excited about the 2019 class since by now (half way through their junior years) their academics are becoming a known commodity.  Amihere, Jones, Brown and Beal would win us a national championship before they were through.  Now, that would be quite a recruiting year if they all came.

While it might be possible to judge basketball talent of freshmen and sophomores, it is way too early to know whether any freshman or sophomore can make the grades, test scores, etc. to be admitted. The most difficult classes do not usually happen until junior year, for example.  However, the fact that we are interested in them must mean that we believe they have a reasonable prospect of making it in--and like Anna, with enough advanced notice quite a lot can be done by a player and her family to help her be academically ready.  So all in all, this is encouraging.

That would be the dream, right?

Also remember, they would get to play with Kiana and Dodson for a couple years as well and if those 2 players are able to develop successfully over the course of their collegiate years, that would be a potent combination.

I have the same feelings -- it's exciting that they are considering us, better than them automatically rejecting us right now, but it's a long ways to go, probably until the summer, right? when we could get a better idea. So a lot can happen between now and then, I don't want to get my hopes up too high, as we've been burned way too many times.

I’d love to hear that her parents named her Azzi after Jennifer.  That would be quite the story.

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - BosCard - 01-10-2018

Hey BobK,

Do you know anything about these potential recruits that Coach Paye is following on social media?  The other folks she follows are either on your list already or are current/former players.

2019:
Leilani Correa, 5-10 guard, ESPN #21

2020:
Caitlin Clark, 5-11 guard, ESPN #1
Kylee Watson, 6-2 forward, ESPN #2
Jordyn Merritt, 6-2 forward, ESPN #25
Sasha Goforth, 6-0 guard, ESPN (NR) but PN #12

2021:
Caroline Ducharme, 5-10 guard
Khylee Pepe,  6-1 forward

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - BobK - 01-11-2018

I’m a bit hesitate to add without knowing more.  But Clark certainly stands out.

If you see grades or Stanford contact please post

Thanks for the great list

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - BobK - 01-11-2018

I just added Clark.  3.8 as a frosh show the academic promise.    Followed on Twitter by Stanford coaches. Willing to wait before committing which is normally a plus for Stanford.

Thx BosCard working on the others.

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - BosCard - 01-11-2018

Kylee Watson (from her USA Basketball bio):

"Maintains a 4.938 GPA in all pre-AP and honors classes; is on her school’s distinguished honor rolle; and was the Mainland Regional High School Student of the Month in March 2017."

Caroline Ducharme:

A Basketball Wall Street article notes she is a straight A student.  Sister Ashley (2018) has verballed to Brown.

Francesca Belibi:

I know she is already on the list but she has a lot of information on her own recruiting website.  She has a 4.3 GPA, is taking several AP classes and has a 1480 SAT.  Wants to be a doctor like both her parents.  Final four schools are Stanford, Harvard, Princeton and Notre Dame.  She seems like a great young person and should really just commit to Stanford already.

Some great possibilities here! Hoping for commits from some, for a brighter future.

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - BobK - 01-12-2018

We believe Osborne was at game tonight.    Update she was

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - crackpot - 01-13-2018

Geez, just realized they were playing at O'Dowd. That would have been fun to watch.

Windward just beat O'Dowd in OT.
