Snubbed on a list of H-Award snubs. - CornFed - 07-07-2018

I just find it apropos that six Stanford players who were snubbed by the Heistman Award did not even get mentioned in this piece.  In fact, a weenie, Chuck Muncie, did get mentioned.

At least the Universe is consistent.  Many people seem determined to "look the other way" to avoid facing our University's comprehensive excellence.

What I take from this, I guess, is that we were not only not snubbed, our players were not that close to being snubbed; not even in the top 10% of closest races.  Oh well.  It is a wonderful "burden" to bear.

In the press lead up to the SJS/Stanford game in 1992 while most attention was focused on Walsh II year One, Jeff Garcia was asked about Stanford. His response was that most of his teammates if given the chance would rather have played in Palo Alto.

So jealously acted out becomes resentment. Ergo, they try to ignore you guys.

And his honorable from 2009 was Suh, not the guy who lost the closest contest in the history of the award and led the nation in all of his important stats.

When I hit the link, I get a “Fumble” page. Probably just as well.

His criteria is a bit erratic (but of course it is his list and he can apply them however he wants). But he seems to focus on winners who were less deserving in general (with some exceptions).

Hence Stanford fails to make the list because Herschel Walker, Ingram, RGIII, Newton, Henry and Mayfield were deserving winners, compared to players like Geno Torretta, Archie Griffin (in 1975), et. al.

What the heck, why not Dudek? And where was Gordie Lockbaum on that list?

History lesson for those who may not know those names.

Ahh, all I had to do was replace "voldemort" in the link with the name that should not be named.

I haven't had time to look into making URLs not be censored by the new software. Actually I didn't know that was a problem with it too. Someday, hopefully.

No big deal, seriously. We can live with little idiosyncrasies like this for such an awesome site!

FWLIW, there are many fewer censored words on this forum: actual curse words, the name Cal fans call Stanford, and maybe one or two others.

Are we no longer doing the upside down Cal any more?  That’d be ironic, since wasn’t it Robertson’s commitment?
