Swallows the olive again with a lead. I think they stand pat tomorrow. Possibly trade Watson but won’t get much. If the season slides away in the next few weeks they should give Moronta a shot at closing. Best stuff on the staff.
Maybe somebody will be stupid enough to pick up McCutchen’s contract in a salary move. Then I would stick Slater in left and stay with him. Gorkeys to RF.

Ole melon head did it again but a great finish for the win.
We fans all knew Hernandez won’t help or even make the team.
McCutchen is a free agent so adding anyone of impact means he goes.

Whatever is left on this year’s deal. The Giants are pinching pennies right now to stay below the tax threshold. Black BTW has been lights out since his first game. Need to get one prospect today. Watson is the most likely to go.

Here we are, exactly 2/3 of the way through the season, at .500. I think the most telling stat is that our leading RBI guy has 43. Now to be fair, there are 3 other guys within 40-42. But when your RBI leader projects to about 65, your offense truly sucks. Yes, they added speed in Hanson and Duggar, and McCutchen can run, but this is still a bunch of plodders that have to string together 3 hits to get a run more often than not.
Phogge pointed out the year-long run differential which is pretty appalling.
Sad to say that Buster is probably too dinged up to ever again be the player he was once was. The guy's still hitting .290, but with little of the power the lineup desperately needs.
Interestingly enough, Panda looks like our most productive RBI guy, 40 RBI in just 230 ABs.
Also interesting that Crawford, Hernandez and now D'Arnaud (who doesn't seem to have ever done much at this level) are having career years at the plate and we still can't mount much of a threat.
Here's the question for today's deadline: would you rather have Hernandez or McCutchen playing every day in RF? If Slater looks like a keeper, I wonder if some team (maybe an AL contender) wants to rent McCutchen for 2 months.

I get rid of McCutchen and go with Hernandez/slater.

Agree with Mick and QWERTY. Of course the Giants thinking of this when they signed McCutchen.
Put melonhead on the next plane out. Right now not playing him beats eating his salary

And who do you think would win a home-to-first footrace between Crawford, Panik, Belt, Posey, Longoria and Panda? Granted the lefties have a small advantage out of the box.
I don’t have the link handy but I read an article the other day that compared their home-first footspeed in terms equivalent to feet/second. The Giants cited in the article were in the range of “below league average for the position” to “one of the slowest”. Panik in particular apparently really slow.
Of course playing Hanson, who is one of our fastest guys, sacrifices a lot on defense.

My lineup rest of season.
Vs righties
Duggar
Hanson
Cutch
Belt
Posey
Pablo
Crawford
Slater
Pitcher
Vs Lefties
DArnaud
Cutch
Posey
Longoria
Slater
Belt
Gorkys
Crawford
Frankly I’d trade Cutch call up Williamson and play him everyday. I’d like to get an Of of Duggar Slater Mac as much time as possible But Gorkys deserves to play some. He’s got a chance to lead the team in HRs. Which is as depressing as it is remarkable.
Melancon and Pence should be released.
Speaking of dead weight. My buddy did some math. The Giants have spent (or committed) $514,000,000 on long term contracts for Zito, Cain, Cueto, Samardzjia and Melancon. Half a billion in bad contracts.
I love Bumgarner. But the Giants have to think about their history with signing 30 year old pitchers to long term deals. It has not been good.

They are rolling in dough. No stadium interest anymore, seven dollar cups of coffee, god knows how much for a Cubana sandwhich.
Boch would rather cut his wrists than release Pence.i

There is no need to release Pence he will be retiring when his contract is up after this season
Pitchers are fragile Lex. Look at other teams also. Plus some you named helped us win World Series which I call priceless
Belt can’t play until Sunday

Lex’s lineup is OK but still lacks a real RBI guy. Time to sell more garlic fries and buy a 100 ribbee stud.
The rotation is a mess next year. Bum, Rodriguez, Suarez followed by shell shocked Stratton, the Domer WR, Holland and Who Knows also known as Nobody. Perhaps Gregorio can get over his PED habit and contribute.
And Bobbbbbbb, we all know about the contracts to Pence and others. Lex simply wants to add by subtraction. And there is no room for Pollyannas in the dugout.
It’s almost time for the FedEx playoffs and the PGA. Not much baseball TV for me for a bit.

Cherry picking expensive contracts is stupid. Cain earned his contract. Zito justified his in one start (IMO, World Series titles are worth more than a hundred million - just ask any Cubs fan). Cueto - the jury is out - it depends on the last two years.
If you are going to rail about long term expensive contracts, you need to include Crawford, Posey, Pence, etc. etc. Oh wait, those were good deals...
This is a transition year, I like the direction the team is taking. I like the significantly improved farm system. I like the addition of youth in the rotation and OF. Next year, the rotation will be anchored by Rodriguez, Suarez and Bumgarner. I expect deals in the off season to add to that core. I also expect SF to go after a big bat.
