RE: Commitment - winflop - 08-08-2018

You can never truly replace a player like Reid Travis with a recruit, but this kid seems to fit the bill about as well as could possibly be expected. I think the other 3 prospects were all class of 2019 kids.

RE: Commitment - BobK - 08-08-2018

We now have 13 on the roster. Just one is a Sr and we already have a 2019 commit. Thus unless someone leaves we are done for 2019!

Thus my incomplete comment

RE: Commitment - JJJ - 08-09-2018

WOW! Great news!

RE: Commitment - burger - 08-09-2018

I can't imagine a more perfect fit--a highly regarded prospect at a position of great need who was able to reclassify to 2018.  Well done, Haase and the staff.

That's a rare thing for Stanford - announcing a new recruit a month and a half before he starts school.
Wonder when he got accepted.

RE: Commitment - bl82 - 08-09-2018

Absolutely outstanding job by the staff.  Amazing to think they could pull a rabbit like this out of their hat at this stage in the process, post-Travis, with all of the academic hurdles.

As for bobbk's reference "3 other of immense proportions prospects" -- can we get a little more insight into this?

RE: Commitment - BobK - 08-09-2018

Actually the recruit announced not Stanford ?

Going to interesting with 2019 recruiting as we have one commit and no more openings.   Sharma being our only Sr.
Sheffield is a Sr with a redshirt year.

Just going off public knowledge, we had 2 big-time 2019 recruits visit this past weekend. Boy we're really going after New England prep schools:

Scottie Lewis (NJ), #2 SF and #9 overall player in the country
https://247sports.com/player/scottie-lewis-86974

Aidan Igiehon (NY), #5 C and #23 overall player in the country
https://247sports.com/player/aidan-igiehon-45572927

I'm not sure who the third is, assuming it's not Delaire who just committed (and who is also a big-time recruit). I looked at the rest of our 2019 offers on 247sports and only these two were shown as taking unofficial visits. Our current 2019 PG commit Tyrell Terry is taking his official visit this upcoming weekend.

RE: Commitment - BobK - 08-09-2018

I wasn’t thinking.  Of course Delaire signed either an LOI or grant aid thus Stanford can announce.   Thanks for the correction.

Given we currently have no openings for 2019 maybe it doesn’t matter who was here.    Or someone will leave early.

RE: Commitment - Bosco - 08-29-2018

We are in Will Baker's final 4:

Hope we could have a chance (or something miracle)

Does anyone know if Haase has a devious plan to find an extra scholarship (or more than one) for 2019?  Apparently we are still on the radar for a number of 2019 recruits.  I can't imagine that is without some recruiting effort by Haase and the staff.  Is he just hedging in case Terry decommits or gets rejected?

Hedging a 7 foot big man in case the point guard decommits?

RE: Commitment - BobK - 08-30-2018

Actually Baker is a very good three point shooter and ball handler.
Terry the Point uard isn't decommitting.

So the mystery is who will be leaving after this next season?

Someone like Stanback ?  Maybe he graduates in three years?
Sheffield grad transfers?
Just guesses but we are recruiting and we are full for 2019.

We are recruiting hard for 2020
