And Herm is 2-0 at ASU after upsetting #15 Michigan State at home. Road tests at Oregon and ND will be tough, but nobody will be sleeping on the Sun Devils after tonight.

I wonder what makes the 10 mentioned in the tweet "bold" hires but Edwards not. Somehow I suspect the basis for the list wasn't boldness (whether meant literally or sarcastically), but simply whether the newly hired coach hasn't won against FBS competition yet.

Other P5 head coaches hired from another school last cycle (i.e. not promoted from within - this is what I will call a "bold" hire):
Herm Edwards, ASU: 2-0 vs FBS
Joe Moorehead, Mississippi State: 1-0 vs FBS
Jonathan Smith, Oregon State: 0-1 vs FBS
So overall, the entire group is 3-11 vs FBS competition, with all 3 wins coming from just 2 of the 11 coaches. Still bad.

Two.
Games.
In.
I'm not saying it will be different, but I think this should be revisited at the end of September when we are five games in.

Most new coaching hires are for teams that are doing poorly. I would expect them to be <.500 against good competition in their first couple of games. Usually one allows more time for a turnaround of a floundering program, no?

Indeed! But it wouldn't have made such a striking tweet to combine the records of all the new hires and mention that the result isn't surprising.
