Stanford in the NFL week 2 - BostonCard - 09-16-2018

Andrew Luck and the Colts beat Washington 21-9.  Kind of pedestrian line for Luck (21/31, 179 yards, 5.8 ypa, 2 TD, 2 INT, sacked once).
Ty Montgomery, Blake Martinez and the Packers are bating the Vikings 26-21 with 2 min left.  Martinez is leading the Packers with 6 tackles (2 solo), and has a pass defended.   Montgomery has 31 yards on 5 caries, and one reception for 9 yards.
Christian McCaffrey and the Panthers are losing to Atlanta by a TD with a minute left.  CMac leads the Panthers in rushing (8 caries for 37 yards) and receiving (14[!] catches for 102 yards).

Vikings tied it up with no time left so Ty’s stats have room to increase. Not so for McCaffrey when Cam couldn’t complete his Hail Mary.

Vikings and Packers end overtime at 29 each.  The Vikings kicker shanked the FG wide right.

CMac Question:

So, is today going to be a "good day" for Christian in his NFL career? Certainly nearly 40 yards rushing and over 100 receiving is nothing to sneeze at. I'm sure it will earn him a very good living. But..., I saw CMac as an other-worldly talent, so I expected some gaudy numbers from him--at least occasionally--in the NFL. Maybe these are gaudy numbers and I just don't get that.

Is this CMac's (approximate) ceiling?
Are the Panthers just not very good?
Is their offense so centered on Newton that others are disadvantaged?
Or, is Christian doing as well as can be expected playing "on Sundays?"

Maybe (e) All of the above?

I think these are very good stats for McCaffrey and demonstrate his versatility.  The NFL is often a graveyard for players that demonstrated other-worldly talent on the college level; and for McCaffrey to be solidly in the mix during his second season speaks volumes to his talent and perseverance.  McCaffrey is not the fastest man on the field; and he is not the biggest; but his combination of solid speed, football instincts and maneuverability should allow him to have a very good NFL career.  I am not sure if his talent will make him an NFL legend; but it is good to see that has a leading role at the team that drafted him.  Professional football is a brutal business; and just to be starting on a squad is already an achievement.

Zach Ertz had 11 catches for 94 yards to lead the Eagles in receiving; despite that, the Eagles fell 27-21 to the Buccaneers.
