Not one of our great recruiting decisions - JPR36 - 09-23-2018

Failure to offer a scholarship to Ben Burr-Kirven, a local kid who wanted to go to Stanford, but headed north to Washington when we spurned him. He had 20 tackles against Arizona State last night, the most by a Husky player in over twenty years.

We offered Mustafa Branch, a kid from Seattle who Washington didn't offer, instead. I found that kind of funny.

Can never look at these things in a vacuum it's always about the alternative. My niece was not offered a volleyball scholarship here, ended up going to UCLA and was All-Freshman. But instead of her we got Kathryn Plummer. Kinda hard to argue that one

Congrats to your niece, nonetheless!

Watched him play in high school.  Ridiculously dynamic, but IIRC, he was 196 pounds per Rivals, but very clearly a linebacker.  He was offered by Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Harvard, Northwestern, Princeton and Utah.  So I'm guessing he had the numbers to be admitted to Stanford.  Was rated three stars, not especially high.

He's a 6' and 221 pound senior now and the terror of the Pac 12.
