other games this weekend - ChicagoCard - 10-27-2018

What happened to Mich St's QB Lewirki? I may have misspelled that. Rocky Lombardi is playing in their game with Purdue. Wisconsin's QB Hornibrook is out too... against Northwestern. Utah looking pretty tough (Friday night).

1-6 Nebraska looks poised to get their second win.  They are up big against *checks notes* “Bethune-Cookman”.

Lewerke has a right shoulder injury, while Hornibrook is in concussion protocoll.  And yes, the Utes look really good right now.  I think they are poised to capture their first south division title if they do not stumble vs. Oregon at home and against Colorado on the road.  They also have the Sun Devils in Tempe.  A rematch with Utah in the CCG would be great.

Clemson 59 FSU 3 in the fourth quarter.
One of those days Willie perhaps thinks he should have stayed in Eugene.
He's got a pass this year, but he starts losing games like this next year and his stay in Tallahassee may be short.

u$c down to their third QB as well as numerous injuries on defense.  Arizona State is handling them right now up 14-7 and driving.

Because of lumbar decompression surgery, I am unable to attend today's game so as a long time DirectTV user, I am streaming in Sling
with its 7 day free trial to pull in the game.  Go Cardinal.

That sounds serious. Get well soon! I hope the surgery will prove to have helped once you get through the healing process.

The greatest 4th down play I have ever seen in my 30+ years watching football was pulled off by Iowa today.

- It's 4th and Goal from the PSU 10 after an incompletion
- The Offense goes off the field and the "Kicking Team" comes on the field*
- Iowa then lines the Kicker up wide and has the "Holder" in shotgun
- He gets the snap, veers right, and throws to..
- A walk-on DT playing TE, who blocked at the snap, and...
- Made an awesome over the head catch for a TD

* My guess is it was the second team offense with the Kicker.  Hard to know what the actual personnel was, but I doubt the regular kicking team would have bee running a regular offensive play.

Whatever the case, how brilliant is it to run the offense off the field, to get the kick block team on the field, and then run a play against it, with probably the second team offense?  LOVED IT!

Yes, I saw that play.  Ferentz normally doesn't indulge in much trickeration, but he's done a few funky things in this game.

Trojans clawing their way back into the game, now trailing the Sun Devils 24-21 in the 3rd quarter.  Jack Sears (3rd string QB) appears to have settled in after some first half jitters.

After an ASU fumble, USC is now leading 28-24 after a trick play pass into the end zone.  21 unanswered points in about 7 minutes of play.  Unbelievable turn in the game.

Nope, someone got the score reversed.

RE: other games this weekend - BostonCard - 10-27-2018

Also wtf, Oregon?  They are losing 30-8 to Arizona.  That’s a bunch of major upsets this week:

OSU beat Colorado
Cal beat washington
Arizona should win against Oregon

Even ASU beating USC and WSU beating Stanford were upsets.

Only Utah taking UCLA to the woodshed was completely expected.

Arizona up 44-15 late in the 4th quarter.  Go figure.  Yes, Tate is back.  But that doesn't explain this shellacking.

After this weekend, the Pac-12 will only have two ranked teams: WSU and Utah.  And these two may likely play for the Pac-12 championship. Stanford's two conference losses are to these teams.

I think Utah finally gets over the hump, and wins the Pac-12 South, but they have a potential trap road game next week at ASU. If Utah loses, the entire division will be tied in the loss column (pending other results next week of course), which means literally anyone can still win the Pac-12 South. The division is terrible, but chaos in college football is fun.
