MBB: Exhibition game vs Sonoma State -

Did anyone go tonight? According to the box score, Division II Sonoma State took a 5-point lead late in the first half before Stanford restored order. And Josh Sharma fouled out...after only 17 minutes? The final score was 75-59, Stanford.

My best read of the box score is that we played terrible defense in the first half and missed a lot of shots, and then settled in while they went cold/we turned up the pressure. The biggest concern for me is that we were 7/18 for FTs in the second half. That's inexcusably appalling and an invitation for every team to foul us to heck and gone in the closing minutes of a close game.

I was’t there but watched the game.
Interesting tersting was the mostly no post offense. Constant motion with breaks to the basket. Certainly defense lacking the first half but then better second half
Ryan
Davis
Sharma (he was at post when in)
KZ
DaSilva
The starters
Willis and Pugh our. Fitzmorris didn’t play.
McF come on in here

Didn't attend, but watched the stream online. Friendly reminder that the preseason means very little.
Take out the freshmen who attempted shots (Ryan 1/6, Delaire 0/5) and everyone else shot 26/40 from the field, 6/9 on 3-pointers. Very satisfied with that. FT shooting was still abysmal, though - Davis in particular was 2/8, Delaire 0/2 (all in all he attempted 7 shots and missed every single one). Freshman jitters will be shaken over time; I'm glad the 2 who saw meaningful time weren't afraid to take their shots.
I didn't realize Sharma fouled out; the commentators never mentioned it. SSU had trouble with him down low, but if he can't last more than 20 minutes a game we're in trouble. Stanback is a big boy and had a couple dunks, but that's kind of all he does. He shouldn't be invited back for a fifth year, imo (after next season of course). If Haase successfully recruits Will Baker, he'll immediately start. Keenan Fitzmorris should take a redshirt to bulk up. I guess Lukas Kisunas isn't redshirting since he played a few minutes last night, but WAY too small of a sample size to really determine anything besides his aggressive nature (which I like).
I'm officially starting an Oscar Da Silva fan club. LOVE this player. He affects the game in so many ways. No idea how Haase & co. found this kid overseas but man oh man what a steal.
EDIT: Apparently Will Baker announces in a little over a week, according to 247sports. There's no indication on his twitter that he's set to make his decision, though. I don't think this bodes well for us considering we're technically out of scholarship room.

Baker won’t bode well for us
Thanks for the report
