Stanford trails Seattle 22-16 in the first half. 1/6 free throw shooting will do that.

Indeed. Perhaps the most worrying possible upset of the evening. So much sloppy play on our side. First game of the season, but still.
Well, we're up to 6/12 from the line... and KZ with a sweet dunk.

Shoot, totally spaced on this game. Going to record now and watch when I get home. Thanks for the reminder.

KZ was such a great recruiting win for Haase. And so far, Ryan is also delivering, esp. on the defensive end. Loving his effort.

We go on a bit of a run to take the lead 38-36, with the first half about to end. Good, I guess, but if we are struggling against Seattle, what will we do against the Pac-12 biggies?

Ryan is a revelation on defense and had had some terrific outside shots on offense. We seem to be out of sync on some of our sets, but the core intrinsic talent is promising. That said, definitely would like to see us have a bigger lead.

60 - 48 with about 10 minutes left and order has been restored to the world.

Not to disparage our veterans, but the disparity between the Haase recruits and the Dawkins legacy recruits is gaping. Our underclassmen (Ryan, Okpala, Davis, and Da Silva) are single-handedly carrying this team. I can't recall us ever having four of our five best players being underclassmen.

Well, after our first half struggles, we have certainly taken charge of the game as the team is closing in on potentially 100 points with a healthy 25 point lead with just over 3 minutes late.
Okpala looks to be our budding star with a career high in points and a double-double and Cormac Ryan with a fantastic college debut, shooting lights-out from long range
Don't like our careless turnovers and giving up some o-boards to Seattle U. but a solid Game 1 to the season
Meanwhile, not the best start team-wise for Reid Travis as Kentucky falls in a blowout to Duke
Travis with 22 pts and 7 rebounds for the Wildcats

Definitely impressed by CMac Ryan last night! Definitely some skills on this team. Still a tad annoyed that Mr. Travis took his stat line east . . . where that D team's skillful youths put on a show

What does the title of this tread mean? Election results.

Great second half after a so so to not good first half.
Liked the play of Stanback.

KZ is going to be a challenge to defend one on one for a lot of teams. Cormac looks to me to be the best 3 point shooter to arrive at Stanford since Casey J. He acts like he is at least a Junior and has the same assassins mentality that Casey had. Never met a 3 point shot he didn't like and couldn't make. Delaire (sp) was really a surprise, now looking forward to seeing what Wills can do. Second half was most fun Stanford Basketball to watch in some time.

I only saw the last 10 minutes of game time, and they looked like a final 4 team during that stretch (not really, I know). 27-33 FT shooting! Okpala was sensational, Ryan looks polished already. One worry: the bench only had 1 assist, from Sheffield. Great to see him back again, but he's not a natural PG. Is there another candidate to backup Davis?
The real test starts this weekend with true road games at NC-Wilmington and UNC.
Bob, the NYT needle is explained
here. It's become something of a joke because it wasn't super accurate in 2016 and tended to fluctuate a lot, leading to frequent near heart attacks for needle watchers. They used to use it for every race, but yesterday it was just used for house/senate control.

We started 1/6 from the line, which means we ended 26/27.

Probably Bryce Wills, who is injured. Haase told Ryan he would have the opportunity to run the point as well.
And next year we'll have Tyrell Terry. Hooooooly cow am I stoked about him.
This team should be a lot of fun to watch, especially when Josh Sharma stops committing a personal foul every 3.5 minutes. (Not an exaggeration; he has 8 in 29 minutes on the floor.)

I was sort of playing along. Seattle, needle, so I added “spaced”... I know, when you have to explain it...

Ryan did run the point for a bit when Davis came out after being fouled hard.

I happened to be watching just that part live and the announcers seemed to be raving that it was great for a Frosh to get PG experience for future conference games. (I’m looking forward to watching the DVR later today.)
I also love that they join the 6th man section to sing "Hail, Stanford, Hail."
