Fairly shocked by the UCLA result. I knew this year would be a struggle, but Loyola Marymount?!?
Elsewhere in the country, Ohio State got hammered by South Florida. Stephanie White's Vanderbilt was surprised by newly minted D1 North Alabama. Marquette crushed South Dakota State just days after losing an exhibition to D2 Grand Valley State.
Oh, and Florida went and lost at home To Gardner Webb University.
Washington State lost by 11 to Utah State despite 27 points from Borislava Hristova.

UCLA's loss is shocking--more so even than our loss last year to Western Illinois. But the boxscore might provided some clues. I see that Japreece Dean fouled out and that Drummer did not play--and that for some reason UCLA agreed to play this first game as a visiting team. What a disastrous way to start their season. Both the coaches and the media selected them 6th, but they will have to play better than that to wind up in the top half.
UCLA's starting forwards were held to a total of 8 points. Onyenwere got 38 minutes as their only reliable forward. Sophomore Miller got 14 minutes and their 6'6" freshman center got 5 minutes--everyone else was a guard--so they played 4 guards for half the time.
Anyone know what happened to Drummer? As Bob said in his preview, UCLA needs to be injury free to have a successful year. If Drummer is out for some reason they may have some real difficulties.
Is 6'6" Shayley Harris expected to be good? That is an eye-popping height. And this was her first college game....

Ionescu had her usual 26 points and was 5/8 from three. Erin Boley had 13 points on only 5/19 shooting. Syracuse got most of its points in the paint and controlled Ruthy so Oregon didn't.

Wow, ASU is up 19-8 on Baylor after a quarter. I'm not watching, just checked the live stats. What is going on?

ASU hitting their 3's. Ekmark (now in her 9th year of college but not showing any signs of age) has a couple, Kiana Ibis, Richardson, and Loetta.
13 baskets, 13 assists. ASU not going with their full line changes in this game
Joking about Ekmark but it does seem as if she's been at ASU forever. Now in law school

Baylor pulls it out in the 4th. Kalani Brown is a beast. ASU seems to have worn down after a great start.
