Isn't one of our own a mascot (GoodGrief?).  I came across this story about the Philadelphia Flyers' new mascot and thought it was interesting.

RE: Gritty (the mascot) - GoodGrief - 11-17-2018

yeah, as a former Chicago Bulls Mascot, I have to say that Gritty shouldn’t work, but he does because he’s kind of an anti-mascot in a blue-collar city that can embrace that.

If I were to design a mascot, I’d make sure that first and foremost, it be cuddly with big, friendly eyes. Gritty’s right out of a nightmare, but his attitude and social media fits well with Philadelphia.  Also, the dad-belly is great for mascots that don’t need to slam dunk, because you can do great antics with a big fat belly.

Every pro team really needs a mascot, to reach fans that don’t care about the sport, to raise publicity, and to create relationships across the community.

Now if I can just convince the LA Chargers to let me create and be their mascot, we’ll be all set...
