He should win, an award that has somehow eluded all our previous finalists.

Please elaborate.
The other two guys seem to have similar receiving stats, though I have not watched them much.

Zach was a CONSENSUS All America. Every major AA list. But the Domer won the Mackey. Expect a repeat. Barry Tompkins won’t vote for a Stanford player.

Why won't Barry T vote for a Stanford player?

He is a Bare. Voted against Toby and made it public. Good guy too but has that irrational hatred.

The other two guys are actually liabilities in the run game. Smith is a net zero, which is not great, but at least he's not hurting the team out there.

Quote:When it comes to run-blocking, Smith is essentially a net zero this season, which makes him by far the best of the three candidates based on this criteria. Hockenson has struggled mightily as a run blocker this season and to a lesser extent so has Okwuegunam. Okwuegunam has also hurt his team significantly with penalties this season.
But as the article notes, the committee completely whiffed on the best tight ends.

I think he was a unanimous AA, wasn't he?
But, consensus or unanimous, that one has always bugged me. Ertz was clearly better. Seems odd that the award would go to someone over the unanimous AA.

He voted for — Colt McCoy? — I think. Based his vote on “body of work” which contradicts the notion that the award should go to the best player in the country that particular year.
