Pac-12 future bowl games - 82lsju - 12-27-2018

The three-pronged combination of the Rose Bowl plus a new game at Hollywood Park and the upgraded Las Vegas bowl “should be encouraged,” Waters said.

The problem facing the Pac-12, he added, “is really one of population. As you get further away from your schools … you become less desirable for the bowls.”

Instead of partnering with bowls thousands of miles away for the next postseason cycle, the Pac-12 needs new or improved games within its own footprint.

Definitely not a fan of 5-7 teams playing in bowl games.
Actually, not a fan of 6-6 teams either.
I think you should at least have to have a winning record to play in one.

When you have mediocre-at-best teams playing bowl games you really never know what you're going to get. You could get that total heap of garbage that was the Cheez-It Bowl, whose only redeeming quality was that the Weenies lost. You could also get last night's Texas Bowl which was a lot of fun to watch.

But it's a free market and money is all that matters in bowl games. If these bowls can make money, they will keep having them.

Yep, and no one forces you to watch a game. If you turn it on and it sucks, do something else.

It was. Unfortunate that (former Stanford DC) Derek Mason and Vandy ended up losing.

OT.  I hope Vandy loses the following four games:

The Commodores will host the first game in the home-and-home series with Stanford on Sept. 18, 2021. Other dates in the series are Sept. 7, 2024 at Stanford, Sept. 6, 2025 at Vanderbilt, and Sept. 11, 2027 at Stanford.

Looking forward to a 2021 trip to Nashville.

Geaux Cardinal!

By my eye test, bowl attendance so far this year has been horrendous across the board. Not necessarily exclusively a PAC-12 problem here, but of course having no playoff teams means less "good" PAC-12 bowls.

Which is what I did at halftime of the Cheez-It Bowl. Went back to it much later and caught the winning drive of OT.

The Cheezit bowl was fun as a kind of performance art in terrible offensive football!

it seems like with the Cheez Its Bowl, they're scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to sponsors.  what's next, the Dr. Scholl's Odor-Eaters Bowl?

In my mind, it's hard to top the Poulan Weed Eater Bowl in that category.
Here's a brief summary of scraping the bottom of the barrel bowl names.
