McCaffrey - lex24 - 12-29-2018

Coming out of college there was a question if he could be a running back in the NFL. Too small. Not going to be able to run inside. Maybe more suited to be a slot receiver. Well – let’s look at the year McCaffrey had:

Rushing: 4th in NFL behind Elliott, Gurley and Barkley. CMac at 5.0 a carry has better ave than all three.

Scrimmage yards: Second behind Elliott.

Receiving. 106. NFL record for an RB. Better yards per catch than Elliott or Barkley.

He’s the third in history to run for 1,000 and catch 100.

Some other notables:

1. Until the last drive or two of 4th quarter last Sun, (when game was decided) he had been on the field for every offensive play since the Nov 8 game.

2. At one point in the season he had 89 catches and zero drops. Not sure if he dropped any passes since that time.

So, I guess they aren’t questioning him anymore. Although despite the fact that he arguably had the best season of any NFL running back he didn’t make the Pro Bowl. Kind of like finishing second in the Voldemort despite having one of the greatest years in College Football history.

I thought he'd be successful in the NFL, but I didn't think he'd be THIS good.

And yet Barkley gets the Pro Bowl nod over him...SMH.

Well at least he didn't choose not to play in the game to focus on his health and preparing for next season...

Would have been nice to stay in there and pick up another 35 yards from scrimmage.

By a very meaningless game.  The saints have clinched home field throughout the NFC, and the Panthers are not going to make the playoffs.
